Chelsea's Pivotal Problems

All season, their has been plenty discussion with the midfield double pivot.

Is the problem tactical problem? or a personnel problem?

Most fans agree that 4-3-3 is a better system for the players in the squad. But it seems Chelsea want to make the 4-2-3-1 formaion it's blueprint as it has been established in the academy and it's the only one used by the First Team with little to no variation.

The need for a deep-lying playmaker can be seen, with the midfield slow to transition from defence to attack.

David Luiz as a midfielder was a farce for the pivot issues, and has now returned to defence. He has vision and creativity in midfield but often his passes are incomplete. I see him as a CB.

Should Chelsea purchase a CM or DM in the summer or develop some of our own players returning from loan?

Options: Modric, Fellaini, Pjanic, Beñat Etxebarria

Loan Prospects: McEachran, De Bruyne, Chabolah.

Current: Lampard, Mikel, Ramires [Oscar and Luiz could be used]

I think Chelsea should aim to get Modric though his wages are high. And Keep McEachran and De Bruyne. It seems Chelsea will be signing Fellaini in the summer but he isnt necessarily a playmaker but more a box to box midfeilder and wont solve the pivot issues. I would welcome him as he offers another dimension with physicality, height and energy. But same can be said for Ramires. I would prob like to see both Modric and Fellaini in the pivot but I do hold Mikel to value to team also.

What are your suggestions?
