The England center back will be re-evaluated next week
The injury list to Chelsea players for the upcoming international break continues to grow. Yesterday we found out that Ramires will not be playing for Brazil (and that he may be joined by David Luiz), and today we have word that Gary Cahill will also be missing out on international duty. Cahill's injury has resulted in Newcastle's Steven Taylor being called up ahead of Friday's fixture.
Thus far, Cahill has only been ruled out for the first of England's two games, against San Marino on Friday. He'll be re-evaluated ahead of the game against Montenegro next week, and may still be available to play.
It doesn't sound as if this injury is too serious, given that he's still being considered for the second England clash. Frankly, I'm happy that he'll be getting the first game off, as most of Chelsea's squad could probably benefit from a bit of a break. With that in mind, I won't be upset at all if they treat this conservatively and rest Cahill against Montenegro as well.
