Chelsea have been suffering from a lack of depth in their first team squad lately, and with both Victor Moses and John Obi Mikel remaining with the Nigeria squad this weekend, there were some concerns over where that would leave Chelsea when they face off with Wigan Athletic. There will be one more name that can be added to the list of players that won't be available, as John Terry will not be fit enough to be chosen on Saturday.
There is good news on the injury front, however, as Terry will be the only player missing due to injury. Demba Ba has been fitted with a protective mask, and will be available despite having broken his nose against Newcastle United. Peter Cech also suffered a broken finger in that game, but he'll be available for selection as well.
David Luiz has been unavailable for a bit due to a minor injury, but he was able to play as Brazil lost to England mid-week and didn't appear to be limited at all. With Terry being injured and John Obi Mikel still in South Africa, it will be interesting to see how Rafa Benitez chooses to use him this weekend. Also available for Chelsea will be Eden Hazard, who has been out for the last three games while serving his suspension.
Both Mikel and Moses will be back in time for our next fixture after Wigan, as both will be required to report back from international duty no later than Tuesday. Demba Ba will be unavailable for that match, however, as he is cup tied for the Europa League with his former club.
