For all my loyal readers, this isn't a poem, I apologize profusely. But I have a serious chip on my shoulder at the moment, and I wouldn't mind getting it off my chest. There are things happening that I am not sure is best suited for Chelsea football club and it's present and future.

We need to recall 1-2 players from their loan spells. At least. We have the highest number of loanees out on loan, more than ten more than the next best side (Spurs I think with 11). This is pretty poor in my book. Although I understand the need for player development and loan spells can fulfill that, there are players who are out on loan who can challenge for places already, and as far as squad depth goes, would be better suited at Cobham. My picks for a recall to Cobham would be Essien and De Bruyne. Both versatile and can rotate between players. I would even go so far as to suggest Piazon (Why did he go?), considering we have the Europa league to look forward to. Playing Ryan Bertrand on the wings is a bad idea. He is a top class full back, but he isn't a winger, and now people are questioning his ability when he struggles with his positioning. But we need some squad depth, and we have that depth in the ranks who are registered already to Chelsea.

Which leads me to my next point. Why are we sending players out on loan to Spain, Portugal and Holland? It may be a higher grade than the championship, but I am skeptical on whether it actually decreases the time taken to adapt to english football. I mean, whenever we sign someone from outside England, we are always saying 'He needs time to adapt, blah, blah, blah'. I can't find an example of someone who has gone out on loan overseas and come back and become a star for any team. But I can offer Cleverley, Wilshire even Mannone as players who have stayed in England and benefitted from learning the english game.

It probably won't resonate to the rest of you, who would like Bernat, Falcao and Fellaini. But I really think we haven't got the best out of our loanees, as far as putting them back into the Chelsea team is concerned. But we will wait and see....
