Chelsea have been looking for depth at striker for much of the past several transfer windows, and if Marca are to be believed, they have targeted yet another player from La Liga. The report claims that Chelsea have made an offer for Celta Vigo striker Iago Aspas, who has also been linked to Swansea City this window. Aspas reportedly has a buyout of €10 million, a very reasonable figure for a club with the resources that Chelsea have.

Aspas is currently 25 years old, and has been on good form for most of the past season and a half. He found the back of the net 25 times in 37 appearances last year as Celta earned promotion to Spain's top division, and he's scored 8 goals and accumulated 3 assists in 19 La Liga appearances this season.

Aspas is not a big guy, but he's a very aggressive attacker without too many weaknesses in his game. He times his runs well, is an excellent passer, and rarely turns the ball over. He'd be an excellent option off of the bench, and could probably contribute in any number of roles should Benitez decide to actually change our formation. He's also playing for a very poor club and hasn't got a long track record of success, so I'd imagine he'd come on a very low wage.

I can only speak for myself here, but I'd be fairly pleased with this move by Chelsea. He's an almost perfect fit in terms of style, dirt cheap, and not cup tied at all. He'd be a solid option off the bench that should in no way prevent us from making a move down the line, and he's the type of player that could allow us to change looks on the fly. I don't know how far to trust this Marca report, but at the very least it's worth noting.
