The French transfer deadline was yesterday evening, and many expected there to be one more departure from the Chelsea ranks before it closed. Those rumblings got a little louder as Florent Malouda was left out of Chelsea's Champions League squad in favor of eighteen year old Lucas Piazon, a player who has yet to make a senior appearance for any of his clubs. So what does all of this mean for Malouda? Why don't we leave it to him to tell us:
This is where I'll train for my last season with the blues !!! twitter.com/realflorentm/s…

If this is indeed the case, I'd have to assume we'll only be seeing Malouda this season if things go very, very wrong. Older players on high wages are always difficult to move if they refuse to take a pay cut, and I'd have to assume that this was the case with Malouda as well. Hopefully this doesn't prove to be too big a distraction for the club, as at the moment it has the look of a very promising season.
