Just occurred to me that it might be an idea to sound out Villa as a January signing.

He's a proven goalscorer, got bags of experience that could be useful now our team is so young, can play out on the left if needed and is old enough not to seriously effect the development of our younger strikers.

I doubt he enjoys being constantly played out on the left at Barca and although he is good there, he might be thinking in the back of his mind that he would suit a system that actually play a striker. He's never played outside La Liga and you never know he might wanna give it a shot before he gets so old that it wouldn't be at the highest level.

I think he would suit our new style of quick, short passing and offer a different option to Torres and Sturridge (better).

At the age of 30 surely Barca couldn't ask for too much of a transfer fee and although I'm sure he would want high wages, you have to pay those if you want to have a top top class strike force (plus I would imagine that at very most we would be offering a 3 year deal)
