Barcelona? Not happening. Chelsea centre half and curly-haired cult hero David Luiz has, according to Sky Sports, just signed a new contract with the Blues that will keep him at Stamford Bridge for the next five years.

With the defender on relatively low wages coming out of Benfica and several rumours linking him with a move away from Chelsea over the summer, this was probably a good time to get him extended. Although his erratic playing style has seen him make some costly gaffes over the course of his career, David Luiz has established himself in the Chelsea side. He's also been especially helpful in helping our Brazilian youngsters -- Oscar and Lucas Piazon in particular -- settle into life in London.
Much like Ramires earlier in the year, it's high time he was rewarded for his contributions to the team, especially now that his more psychotic tendencies have been (slightly) curbed. Hopefully the club will confirm shortly, and we'll let you all know when they do. Chelsea have now confirmed the signing. Hurray!
