Well, I have to say this was unexpected.
The ECA didn't offer much in the way of an explanation, but they did at least give us a sentence, stating Chelsea were honored "For their outstanding achievement during the 2011/12 season on European and domestic level." Cool.
Chelsea, you may recall, won the UEFA Champions League last season - saying that isn't going to get old is it? - in addition to the FA Cup. We finished sixth in the Premier League, though that seems to be swept under the rug by the "nuclear family of the football society." Seriously, that's what the ECA refers to itself as.
We are proud to have received this accolade. Last season saw us win the Champions League for the first time in our history as well as the FA Cup for the seventh time and it is an honour that the ECA has recognised our success in such a way.

So, add another accolade to our extensive list. Congratulations to all who were involved in helping us rack up yet another award for the trophy cases. We ain't go no history, indeed.
