As many of you will be aware, Chelsea made an announcement back in June that they now had an official airline. Graham wrote a brief post speculating on what this may actually mean for Chelsea, but stand back because I just experienced it first hand and I'm about to slap you round the face with the awesome details.

I have just taken a flight with the mighty Delta from JFK to Heathrow, having completely forgotten that this was the official airline that all good Chelsea fans should be using at every opportunity. Upon landing in London, during the pilot's speech (that nobody listens to) while everybody's waiting for the doors to open, he said that whilst it's easy to get caught up in all of the Olympic madness that's going on here at the moment, it's important to remember that the football season is right around the corner.

The pilot went on to inform those that didn't know (or had forgotten) about Delta's status as the official airline of Chelsea FC. As a result of this, we would be awarded with 'some free gifts' to enable us to better support CFC during the upcoming season. Below is a photo of said 'free gifts'

I have absolutely no idea what these are, or how they will help me in my quest to support Chelsea to the very best of my ability, but I've had to spend the time inflating them myself and would therefore like to get some use out of them. I have little interest in their intended application (whatever that may be) but I'm open to suggestions in the comments.

My initial thoughts were that producing thousands of these things is a waste of time, money and oil, but then I realised that Mr Abramovich has a surplus of the latter two things kicking around and he probably has minions with plenty of the former, so it's all good.

I felt like I had to write this post to make sure everybody knows that the business alliance that Chelsea have forged with Delta is not just a gimmick. There's some hardcore marketing going on here and it's definitely not as pointless as many might initially have assumed.
