This is my first FanPost here at WAGNH. If there is any rule or procedure I may have overlooked, please ignore it.

Fabio Borini's Chelsea career has largely been deemed a failure. For many, it is an example of why young Italian players should not leave early. After leaving Chelsea, he has achieved initial success with Roma. Fabio ended up scoring 9 goals in 24 appearances for Roma, which is not a bad return considering that most of those appearances were off the bench. He recently completed his permanent move to Roma, having joined them on a co-ownership deal from Parma. On that account, there have been no reports that Chelsea want to bring back their former youth player.

According to me, however, on paper, it would be just the move we need. Here are 5 reasons why:

Reason #1:YOUNG, HUNGRY AND HOMEGROWN(?): Fabio Borini is a young star. He showed why when he went on loan to Swansea (in the second half of 2010-11) and is showing so now at Roma. That said, should he join us now, I think he would do wonderfully. Fernando Torres looks to be our main striker right now. Apart from him, we have Daniel Sturridge and Romelu Lukaku. According to the others at WAGNH, if Torres doesn't hit the ground running, we would have a considerably weak strike force. This is one of the reasons why we have been linked with moves for Hulk or Stevan Jovetic all summer - depth at ST. Not only would Borini add to our options for our fixture packed season - I think he would classify as home grown - having spent 4 years with us between 2007 and 2011. This would try and continue the trend Chelsea have been aiming for - promoting from within.

Reason #2:BRINGING BACK YOUTH PLAYERS?: When I try to think of teams that have achieved success by bringing back former youth players who have achieved success elsewhere - I think of FC Barcelona - the team our owner wants us to emulate. Gerard Pique, Cesc Fabregas and most recently Jordi Alba. These players are the example of a neat little system FCB have running over there. Former youth players add to the culture of the club and increase the "feel-good" factor of the club. If they can do it, why can't we?

Reason #3:DANIEL STURRIDGE'S CONTRACT SITUATION: Daniel Sturridge is our main backup to Fernando Torres next season. But next season is as far as he's signed up with us - as of now. Sturridge's contract runs out next year and he has shown no signs of wanting of extend it. Fabio's addition would avoid the situation of running to Striker market in 2013-14 and would not leave us with only Romelu Lukaku as backup.

Reason #4: THE ITALIAN CONNECTION: Chelsea's current manager Roberto Di Matteo is Italian. This could be an important factor in the transfer if we were to move for him. Even so, Chelsea have had a long - standing Serie A connection. Our best ever player - Gianfranco Zola was Italian. Our former legends - Marcel Desailly, Gianluca Vialli and Ruud Gullit all came from the Serie A. Even former manager Carlo Ancelotti is a legend in Italy. I am sure that all these things would have been important in Fabio's initial move to Chelsea and it is important to note that Italy has made a huge contribution to our success.

Reason #5: FUTURE ITALIAN STAR: Fabio Borini is the next big Striker in Italy. His pairing with Mario Balotelli could be one of the most potent in world football at world cup 2014. The current strikers Antonio Cassano and Antonio Di Natale could both be past their prime. Enter our young former player. Fabio is an extremely confident player and a very clinical finisher. He is also tipped to be the next star by Carlo Ancelotti.

All in all, the only downside I can see to this move would be the player himself. Would he want to move to a club he tried and failed at? or would he like to continue at the club that is making his name. However Chelsea, with all their competitiveness and prestige, could offer familiar surroundings, a warm presence (Roberto!) and a stage beyond what Roma has to offer.
