Chelsea have gone on a major spending spree this summer, landing Eden Hazard, Marko Marin and Oscar as they look to mitigate the impact of the offseason departures and improve on a disappointing sixth place league finish last season. With spending up around £65M, Chelsea haven't been shy about dropping cash on upgrading the team -- and according to chief executive Ron Gourlay, they're still working on more signings.

If the right players become available at the right time we will sign them. We’ve done that and we are still continuing to look at one or two positions and we will see how that develops over the next couple of weeks.

It's not hard to guess what those positions might be. Thanks to Jose Bosingwa leaving at the end of his contract and the continuing John Terry situation, the club's been looking at a backup right back all summer (Sam Hutchinson and Todd Kane still aren't up to the job, sadly), and if Romelu Lukaku does indeed leave on loan we'll almost certainly have to bring in a backup centre forward as well. The linked Mail article mentioned the likes of Edinson Cavani and Radamel Falcao, but it seems more likely that we'll go down the young prospect route.

Regardless, we're still in for a very interesting summer. Continued good times ahead!
