Yeah, it's taken about twelve months for the Luka Modric saga to finally end, and Chelsea have been out of the picture entirely for the past few weeks, but in the interests of being thorough, this should end the rumours once and for all: According to Dinamo Zagreb sporting director Zoran Mamic, Modric is set to sign for Real Madrid on Monday for a £35M fee. He would know, because Dinamo will get a €2.5M sell-on fee for the tricksy midfielder thanks to him leaving the Premier League.

While I'm a little sad that Chelsea never ended up with Modric, who, for my money, is the best central midfielder in England and the best possible answer to our transition problems, it's nice to see Tottenham Hotspur's best player leave the club. The fee's a bit steep, and Spurs can definitely reload with the money they're getting for him, but Modric is irreplacable, and they're almost certainly going to be a worse team with him gone. Hurray!

Now let's hope that Nuri Sahin doesn't end up at Arsenal. That would be frowns.
