We all know that however legendary and totally, by law, not racist (but that's for another time) John Terry is, he is certainly, and sadly, limping closer to his retirement. Turning 32 in December, Terry arguably still has 2 or 3 years left at the heart of the Chelsea defense. But it never hurts to plan for the future, which I've taken the liberty of doing here. After the jump I will discuss my ideal candidates for future Chelsea captain.
1) Petr Cech- The skull cap wearing, penalty saving, Champions League winning keeper is my ideal candidate for future captain. By the time JT retires, Petr will be around 33, and hopefully, no matter how good Courtois is, can stay around perhaps til his 40th birthday. He is already a well respected member of the squad, and has already worn the armband this year a few times.
2) David Luiz- As well as being awesome, David Luiz can also boast being well liked within the Chelsea squad. He is also young and has many years to run yet. He is a huge fan favourite and his daft performances seem to be in the past.
3) Gary Cahill- An excellent buy this year. (Cheers AVB!) Many people see him as being the perfect successor to Terry; probably due to his brave performances seen this year. Being English helps too.
