1. AVB IS NOT TESTED ENOUGH.
He might have have the league unbeaten with porto. but it was his 1st n 'only' season with porto and it was mainly because his 'only' rivals benfica and sporting had sold their most important players and didnt buy good enough replacements. dimaria, ramires n luiz left benfica. while moutinho and veloso left sporting. though some might argue that since porto finished 3rd the previous season, winning the league was something special. however, it should be noted that before then, porto had won 4 back to back league titles under jesualdo ferrreira. so finishing 3rd was because keys players like lisandro lopez, lucho gonsalez, sissokho and ibson all left at the same time. also, winning the europa league is not a factor as only 3 coaches (van gaal, benitez and mourinho) have made the grade in the last 2 decade. big clubs who by chance play in the europa league would rather focus on their domestic league at the expense of winning the europa league. there are many other coaches who have won the europa league in the last decade and would still not get a job in a big club in europe.
2. SPURS DONT HAVE THE KIND OF PLAYERS AVB NEEDS AND CANT AFFORD QUALITY ONES
Bale and lennon are pure winger and not wide strikers like varela and hulk. no creative central midfielders that match the likes of bellushi and moutinho other than modric. unfortunately, modric will leave and i dont see mr levy reinvesting the proceeds in a quality replacement. it wont make business sense as it would cost almost the same amount.
3 CHANGE OF STYLE.
Under mr harry, spurs played either 4411 or 442 and was successful with it. this kind of suit their natural wingers like bale and lennon. however, under avb, it will be 433 and it wont suit bale or lennon. as it was with mata on the left. mata wasnt comfortable on the left. so often time he had to move inwards. the other option is a 4231 formation like that of madrid or bayern. but this will require bale and lennon to switch wings for it to be effective. however, from statistical records they are not as effectivewhen they switch positions. more importantly, records also show that it is often very difficult for a new manager to change the successful style of play of a team and still make the team succeed. see benitez at inter, ince at blackburn, scolari at chelsea etc. when avb took charge of porto, the foundation had already been laid by jesualdo in terms of his style of play and the right players. players like bellushi, falcao, hulk, varela, perreira who were the bedrock of his team were already used to his style. he just replaced mereiles with a better player, moutinho, the captain and most important player of his main rival, sporting. for instance, falcao had 25 league goals, 1 behind top scorer, cardozo in the previous season.
i feel for mr levy. the premier league is a different thing entirely. the competitiveness here is very tight
