When alexander Buttner was sold last week, I think most of expected that would mean Patrick van Aanholt would be returning to Vitesse Arnhem as their starting left back. Today the news was confirmed by Vitesse, as PvA will be returning to Vitesse for the 2012/13 season. He'll wear number 38 next season.
This is good news for van Aanholt, as he'll likely see plenty of regular minutes for Vitesse in both their domestinc and Europa League campaigns. He'll be partnered on the left of the defense by Tomas Kalas, who also had his loan extended earlier in the summer. Congratulations PvA, we'll all be watching to see how you continue to develop. After all, Rooney's best bud Ashley Cole can't play forever.
