Even if you don't think as highly of Luka Modric as I do, I assume every Chelsea fan would welcome him appearing on the team for free. If you need convincing of his qualities, take a look at this season in review video from 2011/12 - which was supposed to be a 'down year' for the Croatian.
For my money he's the best central midfielder in the Premier League. He's defensively capable enough to be played in the pivot alongside a 'destroyer' type (like John Obi Mikel or Oriol Romeu), and he's incredibly good at extracting the ball under heavy pressure from opposition forwards and midfield players. This was Chelsea's main weakness last season, and I think it needs some major help.
So, my assumption is that everyone wants Modric. The question then becomes one of cost. At what point do you stop thinking he's a good idea to buy from Tottenham Hotspur? Last season we failed with a bid of £30M plus Alex, if the media is to be believed, but he's almost certainly going this summer and has a year less on his contract. Give me your happy Modric price (fee and wages too, if you like) in the comments below. Or feel free to tell me you don't want him so I have a reason to squint at my monitor in utter bafflement.
