It seems like Alexandre Pato has been linked to Chelsea forever, doesn't it? While the rumors likely started because of the Carlo Ancelotti connection, today Pato had some comments that make it clear he'd have interest in coming to England at some point in his career. Here's the comments in question:
I love English football. I have friends who play for Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United. At the moment I have a real taste for playing in the UK, being in London with one month to go before the Olympics.
My priority is to finish my contract in Milan. I have a lot to thank them for and my focus is to continue doing what I do, to bring joy to the fans in Milan and continue my contract until 2014. And then afterwards, who knows? I talk to David Luiz and I didn't really believe Chelsea would win it. But they have a tight group and they succeeded in doing what the greats want to do and win.
Pato is certainly an interesting one to be linked to. He's young, and he has shown that he's capable of holding his own at one of the biggest clubs on the planet. He's also coming off of a bad spell, likely dropping his value to the lowest point that it's ever been. He'd seem like an awfully interesting guy to take a flier on if Hulk is too expensive for our liking, as he's quite capable of playing all of the same positions, younger, and likely cheaper.
I don't think there has actually been any sort of reasonable link between the player and Chelsea other than the above quote, and that was likely due mostly to the fact that he'll be playing in the London Olympics next month. Still, it's good to know he gets along with our Brazilians and that he'd welcome a move to the Premier League. More potential options is never a bad thing.
