He hunts with a [fun]ing CANNON! No wonder he scores so many.
In a moment of loose lips that Horst Heldt may soon regret, the Schalke 04 president has let slip that the man they call The Hunter has a buy-out clause of €20m in his contract. On first glance, this seems rather cheap for a player who found the back of the net 29 times in 32 Bundesliga matches this season.
What may deter potential suitors is the striker's age: he will turn 29 in August, and perhaps the fact before this season, he had struggled for consistent form for a good 2-3 seasons. Then again, that didn't stop Arsenal, Tottenham, and Manchester United from being linked with the Dutchman in the past.
Anyway, what do you say? Would you spend the money on a striker who's older than Fernando Torres? Is €20m too much to spend on a back-up to the proverbial first-choice Spaniard?
