This is something that's been playing on my mind for a little while now, but there seems to be a big disconnect between how good I think JT is and how good (generally quite objective) fans of other teams think he is.

He's obviously still got the whole 'Captain, Leader, Legend' thing going on, and the way he organises the defence is a big part of his game; but if you put that to one side and just consider his contributions as an individual then it's not necessarily so clear cut. With the quality of performances that we've seen from David Luiz and Gary Cahill this season, there's probably an argument to be made that they've reached or surpassed the level that Big John has been performing at this season.

I don't actually have an answer to this question, but I thought it would be an interesting topic for discussion.
