This is the top of Jose Mourinho's head.
ESPN are running a story right now in which they claim that John Terry and Didier Drogba have offered 'ringing endorsements' of Jose Mourinho as they agitate for the return of the Special One. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that this is being treated as news, but the idea that two of Mourinho's stars would want one of the best managers in the world to return to their club is about as shocking as Fernando Torres failing to score.
Think what you like about Mourinho personally, but failing to acknowledge he's one of the very best managers in the world - and one who's previously led Chelsea to some frankly astonishing successes - seems to me to be pretty myopic. The idea that any player wouldn't welcome him back with open arms is kind of crazy. Any of them who wouldn't should be regarded with quite a lot of suspicion.
As for me, I have to admit that having the Special One as the bookies' favourite to succeed Andre Villas-Boas at Stamford Bridge is pretty exciting. I may not be completely in love with the guy anymore since it turns out he's a bit of a knob, but he's turned Real Madrid into an absolutely brilliant side this season. They're ten points ahead of supposed 'best team in the world' Barcelona this year, and they're arguably more fun to watch as well. I don't think it'll happen, but if Mourinho does end up back at Stamford Bridge, I won't have much cause to complain.
