Anelka Talks About Final Days At Stamford Bridge
Doesn't sound like he liked being put in a corner and had to train away from the first team. Though he does say, this contract in China is his last one.

I'd be far more interested in hearing Alex's take on this
Anelka has built himself a pretty good reputation of causing trouble in the squad when he’s unhappy, so it’s hard to really take him too seriously anymore
Good point. And I too would like the hear about Alex's last days at the Bridge.

Based on some of the comments I'd heard
from the coaching staff and Alex, it sounded like his transfer was really sort of in place since the pre-season. Alex suggested that his football wasn’t the kind AVB liked and he understood that, so he wanted to go play elsewhere. I sort of feel like they had agreed to work on a transfer for awhile, but then when Anelka had his request come through, that AVB decided he needed to pull him from the first team, and that maybe he felt Alex had to go too, so that it wasn’t punishing one and not the other, for both handing in transfers.
That will be the story in my head, until I hear otherwise from anyone involved.
I don't think any fans...
….are going to shortchange Anelka on his contributions to the club. He’s been huge for Chelsea and everyone knows it. Most would agree that his “career could have been better” but few are actually dissatisfied with it.
the club handled these issues very badly
you can’t tell me that Alex and Anelka would at the very least have been good training opponents for the rest of the first team. Looking at our performances we would defo have needed that.
In the past we’ve had players who the club knew they didn’t want to retain, but guess what we still played them. Belleti, Ballack, Deco etc. The role’s are reversed and the club acts petty. I guess it’s all on AVB. he made it seem like he was in control of both situations.
There is a difference between
keeping players in training that the club wants to sell, and keeping players that have handed in transfer papers. Additionally, it was suggested that Alex’s transfer request came long before, and he did continue to play with the club. Sometimes managers feel they have to remove those that request to leave, based on the reasons they request to leave. It isn’t that uncommon. And we stopped performing as well even when Alex and Anelka were in training, and then had some good games even when they weren’t.
A lot of fans don’t like that it happened as it did, but lots of fans would probably have preferred those players just stay on board and ride out their contracts until calling for the club to sell them in the summer anyhow. And it may have caused some discord in the locker room… but it’s all speculation, really.
