Some Scary Injury News
What's worse than facing Napoli's terrific trio of Edinson Cavani, Ezequiel Lavezzi and Marek Hamsik at the San Paolo? Facing them without John Terry! Here's Andre Villas-Boas as the bearer of worse news than usual:
Alllright. I hope you've been enjoying the David Luiz and Gary Cahill partnership, because it's going to have a rather tough test on Tuesday. We had mostly assumed that Terry was getting rested for that match, but nope. Time to see whether Cahill's worth the money we paid for him, because we need a decent result at the San Paolo in order to get this season back on track (or at least slightly less off-track).
We've also got the problem, if Ashley Cole is unavailable, of having to deal with Christian Maggio's overlapping runs at right back. Now, this would be pretty bad whether or not Cole was available, but I'm even more uncomfortable with throwing Ryan Bertrand* or Jose Bosingwa up against that. This match is going to be very very interesting.
*I'm not entirely sure what our new squad is for the Champions League. It's entirely possible that Bertrand is still out.

LB
I don’t mind if Bosingwa takes left back. Really.
If he could take care of Valencia(was the most in form PL winger coming into our game), what’s more to worry.

I don't get why it happens, but when Bosingwa is played anywhere but RB, he's bloody...
…good. He’s sort of like an anti-Branko, who is crap anywhere but RB.

Haha that's what I've been saying as well
He plays so well when he is playing out of position. He even kept Messi out of the game against Barcelona on LB.
obviously i hope not
but i think it’s possible that Iva starts at CB and Bosingwa at RB. ARGH
Nooooooooooo
I don’t think Cahill is all that great, but he’s still better than Ivan at CB at the moment.
And Ivan seems to be our best RB…by miles!
And Bosingwa has done pretty great at LB in emergency situations.
Ivan, Cahill, Sideshow, Bosingwa – I’m “ok” with that.
oh for sure
but just sayin, don’t be surprised. :(
Bertrand was a beast today...
I’d be perfectly happy with him starting ahead of Cole. In fact, I’d like to see our back 4 remain unchanged for the next game.
He was?
Ivan seemed to do a lot more with a lot less on the right side. Maybe the rest of the team just doesn’t trust Bertrand yet, but nobody was willing to give him a pass – or he wasn’t doing what was required of him.
When he did get the ball, I don’t recall him beating his man once today or putting in a cross. And just like everyone else, he was shit at defending set pieces – and that was the only way Birmingham was ever going to hurt us…
He was all over the place
Constantly hanging on the shoulder of the last man waiting for the through ball or the overlap; unfortunately it never came because Meireles/Ramires/whoever else were too busy fannying about in midfield.
Maybe I’m overstating his performance somewhat, but he didn’t put a foot wrong today, which is a lot more than can be said for Cole in recent weeks (months?)
Could be worse - we could be having ArseLOL's injury woes...
I may not know much about life, but what I do know has taught me to believe in Chelsea.
you never know
you could end up just like us!
I don't even know what to put in here knowing Steve can just change it anytime he wants (the jerk) :cP also something about trolling CFC and WAGNH

after having seen it a couple times
I feel like Cahill-Luiz is a partnership we could go to war with. Also, I’m “comfortable” with Boss at LB. Really, we could be worse off.
I second that
Cahill and Luik looked more mobile and dynamic than I expected.

I've been really impressed with Cahill
Was expecting a huge turd sandwich with the way people around here were talking about him when we made the move. But he’s been very solid, if not very good.
And DL continues to rock. Ever since he calmed down with the stupid mistakes
