Is This Chelsea's New Home Kit?
This is always a fun time of year - new kits are being leaked left and right, and it looks like we're getting our first look at Chelsea's 2012/13 home shirts. Check it out:

via @NigelLim
Now, it's always possible that this is faked up, but as I said, it's about the time of year for these things to be coming out, and it looks a lot like the previous (really terrible) mockups of our potential home kits. I'm inclined to think it's legitimate.
Anyway, it's a lot like the 2010/11 homes, with red around the arms as well as the next and a diagonal striping that will probably end up pretty close to invisible. I quite like details that aren't immediately apparent on football shirts - they make it look most interesting from up close without being gaudy on television, etc, but I've never been a fan of red on Chelsea kits. What think the rest of you?

Fro a fan perspective I enjoy having a collared kit
When playing though, they drive me nuts.

I liked those collars on that kit at first
But it got way too floppy after a few times in the wash. Now it looks like undercooked bacon. Also, I never wear that kit because that Champions League Final was the worst sports moment of my life. And I’m a born and raised NYer with season tickets since 99 who was at Yankee Stadium for the 2004 ALCS.

I handwash mine
Or machine wash and hang dry. And it hangs on the same hanger as when we won the Double. Hasn’t seemed to be working, maybe I should just be done with superstition lol.

And I wear it on game days
But I have to be careful when I can’t watch the game live, and someone I know actually knows what jersey I’m wearing, I have to tell them not to tell me anything about the game or the score.
by dodgerboy03 on Feb 19, 2012 10:14 PM GMT up reply actions
Yep, machine wash cold or warm, gentle cycle
Hang dry on a drying rack.
Always wear something Chelsea related on gamedays, even if it’s just a beanie or a scarf. Last wore it during the 3-3 v. ManU (and subsequently to the Super Bowl party as well). Seeing as how I’d take a similar result on Tuesday, it’ll be making another appearance.
The CL Final one was a pain to wear while playing
And given the humidity in India I prefer collarless
Oh, god, it's the one that went around as a digital shirt about a month ago.
I can’t believe someone would have made a real version of that were it fake.

I think I'll eventually grow to like it. I've hated several recent kits at first, but...
…I like them now, like the mustard stains one, the moobs one, or the red collar one.

Hate the red
Can 100% guarantee I will not be buying one if this is the kit
by Stephen Schmidt on Feb 18, 2012 3:20 AM GMT reply actions
We're the antithesis of red.
This is like Citeh putting red on their kit, or Liverpool blue. Stupid.
I won’t be buying one either, unless we sign Azpilicueta. That’s too fun of a name not to get :)
Red accents are surprisingly traditional on our kits.

all the jerseys are shaped
like Avram Grant is wearing them.
While it may be traditional
I cant help but feel weird when I see it. I feel like the yellow accents are more suiting, somehow. Maybe it’s just not a color as associated with other clubs, whereas red really makes a bold statement in the Premier league.
It's weird, I don't actually like the yellow.
Yellow and blue is a combination you see a lot in non-League football, so it seems a little low-rent to me. I think a blue, white, and black combo would be amazing, or blue, white, and silver.

I dont dislike the current away kits that much
other than the way they used the blue… but had it a little bit of blue trim somewhere, I’d think they were pretty sharp looking. Unfortunately, Chelsea’s form in them is less than sharp.
They stated that during the presentation vid
for the one with the red collar. Its to honor our history. I guess some people forget, because we aint got no history.
I believe in Fernando Torres.

It's amazing how most of our postwar history has involved red accents.
I’m an Abramovich-era fan, and I knew we had red accents a lot, mostly do to that site.

You Wisconsinites with that accent...
It’s ‘due’ :P
Curse my inattentive typing! : P
“Do” is set on my autopilot well above “due.” Does anyone else do that thing where they’re not paying close attention and they type the first few letters, but finish it with the wrong letters or type the wrong homophone? I confuse “that” and “the” and “and” and at" all the time. I tend to catch them, but sometimes the squeak through.

Oh, and I don't really sound like I'm from Wisconsin.
I apparently sound Canadian.

'Tis all the same to me: Northern USA, Canadia, whatever
And apparently Americans aren’t be able to tell my accent from a New Zealander’s, which is frankly quite baffling.
I don't get that.
Australians and New Zealanders sound very different. Have you ever seen the Outback Steakhouse advert explaining the difference between the two? It went around the Internet a few years ago. I’ll see if I can find it somewhere.

Dammit!
I confused the difference between Australians and New Zealanders bit from the Flight of the Conchords show and the commercials Jemaine from FotC did for Outback in the U.S. using a really bad fake Australian accent.

Just watched those ads – awesome! Love FotC btw, probably the best thing to come out of NZ since.. ever.
I wholeheartedly agree. : )

But...
kiwis! They are yummy! (the fruit… I cannot comment on the people)
Reds in our badge…
plus it is massively connected thoughout our history. It also honours the uniforms of our age old nickname “The Pensioners”. I wouldnt wat a red strip but as an accent i appriciate the history and salute it.
by iamJD on Feb 18, 2012 6:14 PM GMT via mobile up reply actions
The red (footballs) in the badge are specifically there as a nod to "The Pensioners" heritage, no?
The badge itself is outlined in yellow. That is the “accent” color. It only makes sense to accent/outline the jersey in yellow (if you’re going to outline/accent with something other than white or, in fact, outline at all).
But besides all that, I just don’t like the red trim. :P
The L'pool black jerseys look pretty nice
wait, did I just mention something I like about Liverpool??
by dodgerboy03 on Feb 19, 2012 10:15 PM GMT up reply actions
why is there red?
I HATE RED (on Chelsea)
I guess I'm in the minority on this, but I like te splash of red on the collar from last year and this
It perfectly matches the Chelsea sneakers I have from last year and a throwback Chelsea track jacket that I have and love. Plus, it’s not like a giant red spot on the main area. Just a bit on the collar and sleeves. A nice touch.
Also the circles around the logo are gross. But at least they got rid of the way too much white on the shoulder thing they had going on this year. And the horizontal stripes of slightly differing blues.
I’m definitely a fan of this
by FootieFromAfar on Feb 18, 2012 3:37 AM GMT via mobile reply actions
NOOOOOOOOOOOOO
fuckin atrocious. that’s even w/o the red. w/ the red, this kit is downright infuriating. who signed off on this sht? torres??
nooo
This would be the third consecutive season that we have terrible homekits which I’m not going to buy. Sigh.
by The Bison on Feb 18, 2012 3:44 AM GMT via mobile reply actions
I don't like either of this year's at all
But I bought them anyway. Figure since I can’t go to games, it’s my way of giving some money to the club (along with watching every game on TV). Plus I have every home kit going back to 2006, so I didn’t wanna stop the streak.
I got two home kits (one Mata and one Torres), and an away (DL #4).
by FootieFromAfar on Feb 18, 2012 3:58 AM GMT via mobile up reply actions
the third kit is nice i quite like it
there have been some absolutely dynamite away and third kits over the years. the all black, the all white, black and orange (sick), the yellow and blue, the black and grey (also sick) … i admit i even liked the fluorescent yellow (on tv but wouldn’t buy that one). hopefully the away and third kits are great if that crap really is next year’s home kit.
Meh
I like the diagonal stripes but am not a huge fan of the concentric circles or the red on the sleeves. I’d also prefer a collar (with the dash of red) so I could get away with it at work. Guess I just need to loose some weight so I fit into that one again…
That...
That has to be fake. Right? Guys? Please?
by FootieFromAfar on Feb 18, 2012 4:08 AM GMT via mobile up reply actions
haha maybe i'm kinda nuts
but i actually kinda like the one on the bottom. i think it would be good on tv, esp. for a fast aggressive team. the one on the right, i’m undecided but kinda leaning against it.
it doesn't really make sense
for the dominant color of the third kit (black) to be the same color as the away kit, it kind of negates the need for a third kit. As far as the proposed home kits, swap the red trim for yellow and it makes more sense.

I sort of like the away kit
The colour schemes are similar to this years, which I like. :D The third, now…I like the big lion on the right bottom corner, but that’s it.
by Avinash Mohan on Feb 18, 2012 8:12 AM GMT up reply actions
I remember these getting posted a week or two ago
and I thought it was silly rumors. But now that the homekit is becoming somewhat expected, i am NOT hopeful for the away and third kits. Does no one at Adidas work in design or fashion?!?! I am not even a fashionista… and that is NOT good.
It's one of those amazing things where conservative kits will be labelled boring and...
…be accompanied by calls for companies to “do something different,” but when they do, people hate them even more. I totally agree with you, though. : )

I'm probably a bit of a traditionalist
Arsenal’s kits today… ugh. So weird looking. It’s like with theirs and the supposed new away kit for Chelsea, that they’re going for “color blocking” on a kit. Color blocking correctly in the regular world is hard enough, so I dont know why they try it on a football kit. I am also bothered by Chelsea’s white socks for the home kit… looks off balance or something, to me.
But then, I am sort of the weird person that usually likes collars on most football kits.
I actually like the blue one
for some reason it looks better in that pic than up there. Also, the bumblebee one is kinda cool, but that bottom one is a little too loud.
by dodgerboy03 on Feb 19, 2012 10:18 PM GMT up reply actions
Not again.
I highly doubt this would be the kit.The red thing on the collar was,as you know, the pensioner tribute and that was the only reason people were not too fussy about it.Read in many official blogs, that they would never want the red colour on the kit..
But it’s Chelsea! We’r forever in for surprises.
The black and orange away kits from last season were amazing
Everything else in the past few years has been either too bland or trying too hard.
"Walter is a quality 2nd receiver. Jacoby is so bad that the two of them together is less than just Walter by himself." -Toolshed1
Yeah, recently the home kits have left a lot to be desired
But we generally get cool away and third kits. So I’m hoping for that,if this thing comes to pass. Red does have an association with Chelsea and all that, but I’m not a big fan. Plus, next season is supposed to be the big new project! We can’t honestly expect to win playing in THIS?! :P
If this is true
I won’t buy the jersey even if we sign Gotze. Hope at least the away or third are good.
At least it’s better then utd’s:

I think, if it is our kit, that it'll grow on us.
It actually looks pretty good, in my opinion, especially compared with the United one.

As long as we're not a walking neon green highlighter again
Or a Halloween color combination gone horribly wrong. Those alternate kits last year were just…what the fuck?
HOLD YOUR HORSES!
There’s been another home kit leak. This time it’s much better but of course, it being a Chelsea kit, adidas has thrown something contemptuous into the design. The slant sections on the bottom left and right give the kit a unitard look. And if you view it from behind, it looks like a swimsuit bottom!

Guess that Techfit
really aims to fit tightly? I already thought the jerseys were getting lengthy enough… those are basically tunics.. .next up, dresses.
I love it! (ridiculous screwy proportions aside)
It definitely has a classic look.

I felt iffy about this at first. Then I started thinking.
This home kit looks really sharp. The red makes the white and blue combo really pop, something which our home kits left to be desired this year.
The away kit is my favourite. The black, blue and white is an excellent combo (same with this years).
The third…yuck.
I’ll definitely nab the home and away kits.
