The Latest Gossip

Even after a month full of rumors, the rumor mill keeps on turning. This is a recap of two weeks of post-transfer window rumblings. Let's get into it.

Gonzalo Higuain: Marca reported the day after the transfer window closed that we had a 40 million euro bid rejected for Higuain. Which sounded similar to past rejected moves for Mario Gomez and Frank Ribery. Current buzz seems to be that Real Madrid wants to buy Aguero and needs to sell Higuain to make that happen. That's interesting but far to many things have to happen for this to take place. Then again, Marca did completely lie about talking to Robin Van Persie so they shouldn't really be trusted at all.

Milos Krasic: The Krasic to Chelsea train rumbles on with some agent quotes. This potential deal is taking a Gary Cahill like course, which means that we could see Krasic arrive in the summer to provide depth on the wings. Much to the chagrin of many Chelsea fans.

Neymar: AVB confirmed that Neymar is not coming to Chelsea. Could have guessed this for awhile.

Falcao: Fun little rumor here saying that we could swap Torres plus Cash for Falcao. Won't happen, but I would take that any day.

Oriol Romeu: Barca said they have no plans on taking back Romeu. That's best for both sides, Romeu would never make it past the fantastic Busquets and Chelsea needs Romeu to develop more without the possibility of going back to Barca.

Eden Hazard: Similar to what Graham has said I don't see how Spurs have the finances to complete this move at all. Unless the Gareth Bale to Barca stuff is true, which I also doubt.

Paul Pogba: Apparently we have scouts watching him in the Manchester United reserve games. He someone we should really consider, tremendous talent possibly available on free. Yummy.

Igor Afinkeev: Really dumb rumor from the Mail. Why would we spend on a 25 year old goalie with a fantastic 19 year old already in the ranks?

Didier Drogba: Anelka says he's essentially recruiting Drogba to come to China. Looks like that will happen, not many teams can match the Chinese contract offer. We shouldn't rule out Anzhi though.

We should sell Torres in the summer

And give Drogba a 1-year contract extension.

How much would we take for him?

Not many teams would be willing to pay 20-25 Million for him.

how much would you pay

for a striker with a 5 goal in 47 game scoring rate over the past year? $3?? $5?? that’s single dollars not tens. seriously, who on earth would pay even 10 million for that kind of striker?

Drogba has been just as bad as Torres over the last year!

They are both a huge drain on the wage bill. Drogba will be 34 shortly and will only be worse next season. I say sell them both get a right winger and play Sturridge through the middle with Lukaku getting a few more chances and mabey look for a good young striker on the cheap a bit like Hernandez at Utd, not sure where to find a player like that on the cheap though.

Couldn't see Drogba going for a player coach role!

Also I feel that if Drogba does stay for next season there is a fair chance Lukaku will be loaned out!

By all accounts, Drogba is quite a mentor to many younger players

And doesn’t he run some sort of football academy/charity back in the Ivory Coast?

He’s quite a giver and thus I could easily see him as a coach down the line…maybe after he takes his final paychecks in China/Middle East/MLS/etc…

As for Drogba

Hes not going to take a one year deal, plus we shouldn’t pay him what Shanghai Shenua is about to give him.

by Dlewis on Feb 17, 2012 4:06 AM GMT via mobile reply actions

i could see him taking a one year deal

why not? i know that’s not his current stance but when it really comes to one more year with the team he loves, or a strictly monetary decision, i think at the brink of that change he would rather stay with Chelsea. not true for most players but i won’t be surprised if Drogs stays another year. and i think he could contribute for another year too.

Goal.com is saying we gave up on Hazard.

Giving him to Spurs, which still seems dumb.

I believe in Fernando Torres.

I believe in Fernando Torres.
