Napoli will be without their manager for both legs of our Champions League tie

Photo

Walter Mazzarri was suspended for two games by UEFA for a shove of Nilmar in the final game of the Champions League group stages. The Napoli manager appealed the decision, but news today suggests that his appeal was rejected. According to Mattia Grassani (the lawyer for Napoli):

The two-game ban was confirmed, then there is a third suspended sentence, if there is no appeal to a third party, then he will have to sit out the ban in both the home and away legs against Chelsea.

It's still entirely possible that Napoli appeal to a third party, but there is absolutely no reason to believe that it has any chance of success. Then again, Napoli doesn't look to be in a good position to return to the Champions League next season so it may make some sense to appeal anyway. I'm sure we'll hear the club's decision in the next several days, and we'll be sure to keep you updated.

I don't know how of an impact this will make

But we certainly need all the help we can get.

I'm a little afraid it will do the opposite

and somehow galvanize the team to fight and win on his behalf… if they feel that enamored with their manager, that is. There are other team’s I could see doing something like that. Too bad Chelsea doesn’t feel like one of those lately :(

But… if their reason for winning comes from having his tactics and man management during the match, then I have no problem trying to milk it for whatever it is worth. Even if people claim we only got past them because of it.

Arsenal losing 3-0 to Milan right now

Milan absolutely wrecking them. Spurs and Sunderland, take notes… you’re up next. Arsenal’s season could very well be down the shitter within a fortnight. This can only mean good things for Chelsea, who themselves have been crap lately

Hopefully this can send Arsenal into a tailspin, a la last season

Out of Europe, out of the FA Cup, and a loss to Spurs to fall behind in the race for fourth would be spectacular for us

fuckkk I was just reading this thread and was watching the game

on dvr because I was in class and it’s only 1-0 in the 25th for me. Oh well it will still be a fun game to watch.

Oops. My b

Didn’t think to put a spoiler alert. It’s happened to me before. Although still a half hour to go, so who knows what can still happen

I'd say that someone else scored.

But that would be a spoiler ; )

I may not know much about life, but what I do know has taught me to believe in Chelsea.

no worries

i just thought I’d be able to avoid the score for an hour if i only read WAGNH.

which was a bad call considering i expected arsenal to lose

I wish...

we were without our manager.

Hmm

Well, I think Saturday was a pretty good example of the shitshow it is when our players manage their game themselves… or at least it didnt appear they listened to any sort of game plan whatsoever. It was a free-for-all of crap.

I wish we were without our players’ seeming distrust of what was starting to work in the beginning of the season, without Torres’s recent fear of shooting the damned ball, without injured or away players, without a lack of creative passing, and without certain allegations and court cases.

*cough* I'd 4-0 be an Arsenal fan.

Also, I hope we don’t suffer the same fate vs. Napoli.

I've seen coaches banned before, but what does this entirely entail?

Does he still pick the team and make the subs and talk to the team at halftime? In other words, is he still allowed to do everything normally except sit/stand with the team during the game?
