Youth Cup open thread: 2/15/12
The fifth round of the FA Youth Cup will get underway at 1:30 EST on Chelsea TV today. Chelsea's youth have made a bad habit of allowing early goals this season before dominating the remainder of the game. Hopefully today we'll see the youngsters come out of the gate with a better defense and have an impressive showing. Lucas Piazon, Islam Feruz, Jamal Blackman, Nathan Ake, and Nathaniel Chalobah will all definitely play a part today. Danny Pappoe and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are definitely out. Several other players are fighting minor injuries, but I'll post our lineup as soon as it's released. There are also a pair of Champions League games if any of you are watching those...discuss away.
Chelsea lineup (4-3-3): Blackman, Kane, Chalobah, Ake, Nditi, Swift, Baker, Osmanoic, Affane, Feruz, Piazon
For a preview from a West Ham perspective have a look at this...

Sort of
Two away goals for Benfica will make it about 50/50 for the oddsmakers.

Thats It.
If Todd Kane doesn’t STAR for our senior team in the next two years, I’ll commit suicide. He’s class.
That was very nice.
3 minutes of pure Chelsea domination and we take advantage. That’s how you do it!
taught from the youth up?

Hey Stephen..
Is Daniel Pappoe being left behind? I mean Chalobah and now Ake are class, he just seems to be big and athletic.. and now injured?
He's hurt
Injured his knee in the last game. Usually he and Ake start in defense and Chalobah holds.

I know that..
But I never saw him getting better and better like the other two.

Man how is Chalobah still eligible to play in the youth team?!
He’s been awesome for so long, I thought he’d be 18 or 19 by now. New respect for his talent now.
He will be next year as well
He just turned 17 in December

Affane should move to the left..

I’m sure it will only be a few minutes
by Stephen Schmidt on Feb 15, 2012 7:47 PM GMT up reply actions
He faded towards the end of the first
And was anonymous to start the 2nd. But yeah, he was decent enough.
It was nice to see a Chelsea team play with a true #10/AMC.
Why didn't we sign Boateng
When he was available for loose change?!? :(

If Arsenal get battered, I bet it will affect their league form. They're the definition of a
form team. If they play well, they play well for a long time. If they play bad, they play that way for a long time.
OT statistic: "Chelsea have a 0% win percentage when Ramires has not featured in any capacity in all
competitions this season."
15minutes left for the youths. No time for nerves now!
West Ham players must be taking lessons at the Barca school of diving.
I think he booked him for simulation
If so it was legit

This is just about what I thought would happen to Arsenal here.
Milan are a good team and Arsenal’s centre backs just can’t cope with Ibra in a good mood.

Pato
Didn’t seem to impressive. Wasted a big clear cut chance with a poor first touch, and had another later, which he blasted straight at the top of the keeper, wasted chance. Don’t seem like a good finisher to me.
I watch him sometimes, he’s worth £23m tops.

Ibrahimovic
is a beast. If only we could get him… he’s perfect for a 4-3-3. With great feet despite his height, with extremely good vision and skill set most of the CFs can only envy and dream of. What a player!
BUY HIM. £40m.
by Marcus_Cfc on Feb 15, 2012 9:41 PM GMT via Android app reply actions
No
Buying 30 year olds for stupid money is a terrible idea
by Stephen Schmidt on Feb 15, 2012 9:42 PM GMT up reply actions
True
Its too pricey, but he’s definitely a player who’s gonna play till 36/37 and still offer top class skills.

They’re completely unable to break down defensive teams at present. Sound familiar?

Highlight of the Arsenal match for me
When Milan pulled Prince off I was asking why the hell they’d pull him at this point. My roommate responds: He whipped their ass, now he’s got to go make them some pancakes.
