So there have been reports that the players have confronted AVB about tactics in the dressing room following the loss to Everton. This reportedly happened in the presence of Abramovich. Now I'm not sure if this wasn't just something completely blown out of proportion by the media that loves it when Chelsea managers are sacked or if this indicates a rift in the Chelsea dressing room.
It certainly seems plausible that the players could be losing faith in their manager. Several of Chelsea's stars seem to have careers on the decline and decreased roles on the pitch. With increasing frustration with the recent results, older players could be unhappy with the changes in their roles that have taken place. These same players have strong influence over the Chelsea dressing room. As legends and veteran players, everyone looks up to players like Terry, Lampard, and Drogba. If some of the influential players act as if they are in charge of the Chelsea dressing room, younger players may lose respect for their manager as well.
If this confrontation actually did happen in front of Abramovich, it could have an effect on his chances of managing Chelsea next season. Abramovich could be alarmed if he sees that the players do not have respect for AVB. If this was a serious incident Abramovich would have a tough decision to make. He has been criticized for sacking managers much too frequently. If he realizes something needs to be done does he get rid of the manager or players? Of course an incident in the dressing room will continue to fuel the reports of Mourinho returning to Chelsea or reports that AVB won't make it through the rest of the season.
