Fire AVB !!!!

Sigh!!! hahaha

This post is actually the contrary, is to actually support AVB..... As chelsea fans we are accustomed to success due to our recent success in domestic and european leagues. Well im here to tell you that AVB is a hell of a coach and he just needs time, and here are my arguments as to why:

1- Terry, Cole, Lampard , Drogba = Controversial, Old, pile of average performers. Yes some of them have had some really good games but for the most they've been average at best. Imagine if:

Machester, nani, rooney, vidic, evra, all of the sudden drop in average performances. real madrid, Ronaldo, xabi, benzema, ramos, all drop too. Barcelona, xavi, iniesta, messi, pique all drop too. My point is i feel really reallly bad for AVB.

2- Its been said countless times that All the recent firings, the in-content owner, and the incompetent Arnesen have taken a toll on a team that has no backup plans and that is selfishly unmotivated.

3- AVB has to walk in into a team where the youth is not completely up to level yet, where there is not skilled position players at all (wingers) and where the salaries of most players no other teams wants to take.

My argument is that if we can continue with our manager he will be able to fully repair our position and talent holes, he will be able to have more competition for places and be able to make more tactical changes or be more opened to them without dealing with some of the brats on the team.

Its not about MOTIVATION, essien, luiz, romeu, Mata...... To me they ve all have been prettty motivated this season, what do they all have in common : THEY'RE HUNGRY FOR SUCCESS

The younger players who know they are the future of the club have been the most

motivated. The older players who know they’re probably not gonna be here next season have looked the most unmotivated. Coincidence?

True!

I think the team spirit would be much better if the manager is allowed to build his own team of young and hungry players. He is in the process of phasing out the old guard who have had it all their own way for too long now and they are not happy with the change. I wouldn’t be at all unhappy if Terry was the only one of the over 30’s still at Chelsea next season! However with FFP putting limits on summer recruitment I feel the rebuilding process could be a lengthy one!

by conorjmartin on Feb 13, 2012 2:24 AM GMT up reply actions

Until the old players leave/retire, AvB will continue to fail

Chelsea just don’t like winning any games convincingly anymore.
Our home used to be our fortress. The Mourinho—Clarke era brought 86 home wins as-well-as hard fought clean sheets on a regular basis.

Nowadays, we look too predictable hence our opponents do not fear us. We really do need 2 natural wingers at the football club, why on earth we bought Kevin De Bruyne and then loaned him back to Genk is very puzzling..particularly considering we lack some creativity from the wide areas… I’d even go on to suggest Matt Jarvis as a potential LW. I mean apart from injuries, he has given some solid performances for relegation threatened Wolves.

We don’t always have to go into the transfer market and spend upwards of 25 million….seriously, Arsenal signed Arteta on the cheap and he’s been a success….Spurs signed Parker and he’s been a success, Liverpool signed Adam who has been a success. The bottom line is that all of these players are from within the EPL.

by shakm on Feb 13, 2012 12:41 AM GMT reply actions

True

Chelsea have been too obsessed with talents outside EPL to realise that. Early, I’ve highlighted Matt Jarvis as one of the wingers we can acquire on the cheap yet perform well. It would be good if we acquire some talents inside EPL, as they do not need to be given time to adapt to the English game, and could perform equally well.

by Marcus_Cfc on Feb 13, 2012 2:13 AM GMT via Android app up reply actions

Would Jarvis really be cheap?

The reason clubs look abroad for players is because English players are notoriously over priced!Generally you get more for your money abroad, look at Romeu-cost 5 million, a much better player than say Jordan Henderson yet a quarter of the price! If Mata was English he probably would have cost us the guts of £40m. As for adapting to the league-Torres has palyed in England for years, look how he has turned out!You could add Downing and Carrol to that list of proven premier league players who have been awful since their transfers!
I also don’t think Chelsea have been too obsessed with buying from outside the premiership, in the last couple of seasons we tried to buy Modric and did buy Meireles, Torres, Cahill and Benayoun. In the same period we signed a similar amount of first team players from abroad- Mata, Romeu, Ramires, David Luiz and Lukaku(not sure if I would consider him first team yet). Overall our record of signing players from within the league has been pretty disastrous and our recent foreign signings have been much more successful!
Another reason why Chelsea may appear to be more interested in players outside the premiership could be the fact that there is simply a lot more talent outside the league than inside!

No need to fire him.

Then the cycle would just start again… who knows in a couple months we could be in third, advance to quarter finals in the UEFA CL and you would have to swallow your words. I don’t think he’s doing anything wrong, ever since Mourinho every other coach has had to live in his shadow. This is a year or reconstruction and we can’t fire the builder when we haven’t even started building anything. AVB didn’t want to inherit this squad and remember Alex Ferguson didn’t do so well in his first year with Man U. now look at him.

by CHELSEAxFCxFOREVER on Feb 13, 2012 5:54 AM GMT reply actions

Agreed. What happens when we fire AVB and the next manager fails as well? Do we fire

him too? It’s a vicious cycle. It’s time for continuity and I think Roman realizes that.

I wonder if this article is to be believed:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/chelsea/9077661/Chelsea-manager-Andre-Villas-Boas-and-his-players-called-to-summit-with-owner-Roman-Abramovich.html

What worries me about this is not that there is an emergency meeting happening that involves all these parties (I’d expected some type of meeting to happen after Saturday’s match). It worries me that this might be Roman playing micromanager, rather than informed and curious owner. I can only hope that his presence doesn’t cause nerves or unease, as much as a reminder of who writes their paychecks, and that they ought to deliver their best they can. Will be interesting to see how things go… I feel like AVB made some bad decisions to respond to this game, but the players really didn’t execute any of the plans anyhow, and he still has some big issues with depth at the moment. He should be given the rest of the season, and ideally the next to see what he can do when building his squad.

by alynne4307 on Feb 13, 2012 6:01 AM GMT reply actions

Firing AVB will make things worse

Looking at UEFA’s Fairplay rules, we are anyways on an edge. Roman would have to shell out approx 20million pounds to fire AVB.
The problem this season stands is in Training. AVB needs to train the team harder. There is lack of cordination between players, no one two’s. Possesion is wasted. No penetration in the oppositions box.
Also, AVB needs to get his straegies right. I mean substituting Struridge for Romeu instead of a tired Essien. Sir Alex ferguson is very expereienced and to beat his strategies, AVB would need a much better strategy with luck..

by Lincoln155 on Feb 13, 2012 10:42 AM GMT reply actions

I agree on the general notion of your post

that firing managers again and again is not a good solution; it might work short term, but once we’ve fired about everyone there’ll be one time we’d run out of managers. In that extent, winning the double in Ancelotti’s first year term and winning the FA Cup and nearly reaching the CL finals with Hiddink might have sent the worst signals for board and club – that firing managers is a solution and grants success. I don’t want to deny Ancelotti’s and Hiddink’s respective successes – but they gave us a terrible illusion.

That said, the “elder” players have declined, no doubt, but sadly, we are still more or less reliable and give us some results. Not always the ones we supporters are used to when we hear the names of Lampard, Cole and Drogba, due to past glories. But our squad without all of them is nowhere near more dominant than with them … not to say nowhere near where we once used to be

i believe anyone who is calling for avb's head is absolutely ridiculous

it’s just too early to judge him based on his performances. what we CAN judge him on is his character and his intentions. chelsea are at their lowest point as of now (hopefully. i don’t want to see anything worse than the everton display) and what’ll get us through to the end of the season hopefully in 3rd or 4th is faith. faith in the team that they will get their act together and string together a run of good results, faith in AVB to steady the ship and earn the respect of his players, and faith that chelsea next year will be a force to reckon with. being a fan is all about trust, really-we have to trust that the board has picked the best possible people to contribute to the club under the circumstances. thinking defeatist thoughts isn’t going to help anyone. the best thing fans can do for their clubs are defend them to the hilt and stay quietly optimistic no matter what run of form their club is in.

by CFC1905 on Feb 13, 2012 2:43 PM GMT reply actions

I'm curious

just what has AVB done this year to inspire confidence that he is the long-term solution to CFC’s managerial problem? Has he made Chelsea FC better at anything? I know we have more problems and less solutions then anytime since the ‘03/’04 season. So what about his team selections, substitutions, or tactics makes anyone feel better about him being the manager at CFC?

When I go to the press conference before the game, in my mind the game has already started.

He "found" Oriol??

At Barca?? That must’ve taken some hard work…like trying to find sand at a beach. BTW, which young players has he given opportunities to? His “knack” of not overspending is going to cost CFC millions in lost revenue and him his job. He had a pre-season and half a season to see what he was working with talent and desire-wise and he choose to add Cahill… who he now refuses to play. He has fallen in deep love with Bosingwa, which just confirms that love is indeed blind….and stupid.

Doesn’t bring shame to his club?? I can only assume you didn’t witness the debacle over the weekend….shameful would be the kindest thing you could have said about it.

ps – Real Madrid won 4-2 to continue Jose’s shameful tenure top of the La Liga table. Wow, 4 goals in one game, that is just shameful…

Think of it like this...

IF Mourinho was in AVB’s place and we were doing bad would you want him gone or would you let him stay knowing what he helped Chelsea win earlier???

by CHELSEAxFCxFOREVER on Feb 14, 2012 1:12 AM GMT reply actions

Stop using the Manager as a scapegoat.

These players have went through 3-4 managers. That should send red flags that the manager isn’t to problem, it’s the players. They don’t want a manager they don’t like, they throw temper tantrums, stomp their feet, and the manager is gone.

They need to be held accountable for once in their careers. If they don’t want to fall in line, play the system, stage coup d’tats. Get rid of them. Yes, that includes our legends too. You can’t have one’s cake and eat it too. This player control the fate of the club thing has to go.

Bring in players who can play the system and then if we still can’t win. AVB can be showed the door. Until then, get rid of the players who don’t want to play.

by M I S O on Feb 14, 2012 10:25 PM GMT reply actions

AVB is a fraud

he had his chance to find players, he didn’t, he imposes an impractical tactic of a high line defense, and I’m not at the training ground day in and day out and he is but I could have told you that the strength of our defense is not speed but positional play, high line defense requires speedy defenders, Alex and Terry are not speedy. He then proceeds to fall hopelessly in love with Bosingwa, who was basically an outcast during Carlo’s tenure since his injury at the loss at Wigan in 2009 allowed us to discover Brana’s proficiency at RB. He loves this guy so much that when Cole is injured or unavailable he plays a useless RB out of position as a left back. He failed to incorporate usefully any of our promising youngsters. Then there is Meireles, how he can start ahead of Lampard, our top scorer this season is beyond me. I first suspected that he was inept when in Valencia when we were leading 1-0, he proceeds to sub in Kalou instead of bringing in Drogba who coupled with his general awesomeness in attack play is an astute defender at set pieces. That loss put us under undue pressure and made it impossible for us to take it easy in the second round of matches in the group stages where we could have used the opportunity to blood in our youngsters, the way Ancelotti did with Josh, and what the hell has done with our youngsters, he would have been better suited trying to blood them in rather than trying to win the favor of players most of you on here believe are actively trying to sabotage. He is not a good coach in the EPL, give him Manchester City and you lot will still come up with excuses when they suddenly become inept and unable to play. Lastly, we all know we need a winger, Willian was available,at 18 million pounds I think, we did not move for him, instead we’re still lugging around Malouda who plays more than he should. On a side note, please don’t be fooled guys, and don’t lose sight of the truth he is the worse (statistically) performing manager for Chelsea in the last eight years and you guys what to just ignore that fact wtf are you Chelsea fans????

by GianfrancoZola on Feb 17, 2012 11:37 AM GMT reply actions

You're right

Those trophies he’s won- fakes. He even fabricated the press about those winnings. The guy is a sham.

Sure, he is currently the manager that may have the worst in the last 8 years (not actually a long period of time, when you think about it… as lots of Chelsea fans will remind folks about the many many years before Roman came around), but it’s not like the players don’t earn some of the criticism for that. Ultimately, they go out there and play, and if they were all on the same page about AVB’s plans, then they’d be able to do something cohesive that WASN’T what AVB asked them to do. The point is, they aren’t all on the same page, and that is why we’re getting bad results.

by alynne4307 on Feb 17, 2012 6:36 PM GMT up reply actions

All right all right

I’m dumb you’re smart, so smart man, you really believe that AVB is the one, who is our top scorer, the player that AVB is trying to Sabotage. Alex and Anelka treament are signs of an excellent manager especially when running thin in the back line. No disrespecting the other leagues and all, but the cups he won are the Super Cup, their league and Europa. Unlike Mourinho who won those but substitute the Europa with UCL (beating ManU in the process). Also I’m a fair man, if someone can get sacked for coming second in the league, losing in the semifinals of UCL (albeit to unfancied Monaco even though they had Fernando Morientes) [Ranieri] during a transitional period, then this guy should be fired. As a coach, players play the way you want them too, getting them to do that is your job, if they don’t buy what you’re trying to sell then you have FAILED.
