Sorry about my English.
Frist It's quite clear that Mr Abramovich want Pep Guardiola to be Chelsea Manager for some time now, but it was nearly impossible to lure him away from Barcelona. Until Pep decided to quit Barcelona himself, which in my opinion because he want to get out of Messi shadow but let talk about it another time.
So there isn't any better time than this for Mr Abramovich get Pep but there are 2 problems:
1st: Pep doesn't want to loose his "good guy" image, so he wouldn't walk straight in another job but take some time off for thing to cool down, therefor Roman have to wait at least a year.
2nd: Roman never thought RDM could won both FA and Champion League,he has to give RDM a chance to prove himself. So he appointed Di Matteo manager and first-team coach on a permanent basis signing a two-year contract . So if RDM turn out to be a new "Pep Guardiola" it's good, if he couldn't perform, Roman will be replaced with Pep in next summer.
After six months Roman didn't convince that RDM is his new "Pep". But the guy is so popular that if he able to get 4th place or one or two "minor" cups ( Capital One Cup, or FIFA Club World Cup) which is very possible, could be enough for Chelsea supporters want him to stay. Roman want Pep but if he wait until the end of the year and fire Roberto di Matteo with Pep will make the fan angry ( as you can see he is quite right), it isn't like he care, but Pep Guardiola does, he would never risk his "good guy" imagewhich he built for many years for the job.
So what Roman did is , he used the winter slump as a reason to remove RDM, and replace him with Rafa Benitez which is absolutely brilliance why?
1st Benitez is the only guy that could help Torres improve his form or at least Torres belives that. If he improvesi believe he would take a pay cut and follow Benitez to his next club which is win/win situation for the club.
2nd Benitez is a jerk but he's also a very good Manager with a lot to prove, and not like AVB he is a very experience one and he do learn from his mistake, he could do quite well, so 4th place plus some cups is quite possible.
3rd He is a perfect villain, Chelsea fan absolute hate him, and he doesn't care.If he did well and leave in the end of year no one actually miss him, but he did badly people will want his head on the plate. Either way When Pep come in to replace Benitez next year, he would be view as a hero among fan.
So that is my opinion, what you guys think?
