Juventus vs. Chelsea, UEFA Champions League: Second Half Game Thread

Clive Rose

Chelsea are in some serious trouble in Turin after a first half in which they were thoroughly outplayed and trail through a Fabio Quagliarella goal.

Juventus have controlled this match from the opening exchanges. Fortunately for Chelsea, there's this helmeted guy named Petr Cech in goal. Oh, and thankfully there's this specialist in goal-line clearances back in the mix as well.

Nevertheless, Chelsea find themselves trailing at the break thanks to a deflection. The bearded one, Andrea Pirlo, saw his speculative shot from about 25 yards deflect off Quagliarella late in the first half, wrong-footing Cech to give the hosts a deserved lead at the interval.

That's not to say Chelsea haven't created some chances - the visitors had the game's first real opening when Oscar produced a marvelous run from midfield to set up Eden Hazard - but it simply hasn't been enough to offset the superiority of the Bianconeri.

Saving grace? Shakhtar Donetsk have fallen behind to Nordsjaelland in Denmark. Wait, no they haven't. Willian just leveled the match at 2 just before halftime. Wonderful.

We need something out of this match, people. Keep the faith.
