And the Marko Marin transfer rumours begin

Most of Chelsea's summer signings have settled in very nicely and are playing reasonably well. Oscar and Eden Hazard have both made a huge impact; Victor Moses has done spectacularly as a substitute/rotation player, and Cesar Azpilicueta's been a decent reserve backup. But Marko Marin... well, he hasn't done a whole lot.

And that means we're going to hear chat about moving him on this January. Starting now, as it turns out:

A player like Marin could be a good fit for us [on loan]. We will wait and see what happens in the winter break.

The Mirror speculates that Marin might be disappointed with his current role at Chelsea, which involves not playing at all. Said role is thanks to a combination of injury and not really being good enough -- although his performances in preseason impressed many fans, it's abundantly clear that he's battling it out with Moses to be fourth choice in the third band of our 4-2-3-1. And Moses is winning.

Marin was bought as insurance in case Chelsea failed to win last seasons' Champions League and therefore failed to attract their major targets. Unfortunately, that means that he's become something of a forgotten man in the current setup. I think, if he sticks around, he'll have his uses, but he's unlikely to get the sort of playing time he'd like at the club. If that means he has to move on and Chelsea take a slight loss on the deal, so be it.
