Roberto Di Matteo has confirmed that Chelsea have the option of recalling Romelu Lukaku if they so choose.

With Fernando Torres continuing to look like a shell of his Liverpool self and Daniel Sturridge barely seeing the pitch, many Chelsea fans are screaming for an upgrade at center forward in January. The likes of Radamel Falcao and Loic Remy keep being linked with Chelsea, and there are constantly rumors that Sturridge could be set to depart. Today Roberto Di Matteo confirmed that the club do have an internal option, as the club have a recall option on Romelu Lukaku. Via Sky Sports:

"There's an option in January for us. It's a one-year loan but we have a clause. He's had a good impact but we look forward to him starting a run of games and seeing him progress."

Most of us assumed that this option existed in the case of injury, but it's nice to know that Chelsea can make the move if they feel the young Kraken would improve the squad. I've watched the majority of West Brom's matches this season, and I'm of the belief that he'd be capable of contributing right now.

For the moment I'm happy to see Lukaku getting regular minutes at West Brom, but if we continue to struggle to get goals out of our center forwards I'd be ecstatic to see him recalled in January. We're a bit over two months away from the window re-opening, but it's nice to know we have a haggle-free option available. Just keep banging in goals Lukaku, we'd love to be forced to recall you early.
