via EPLTalk Interesting news today regarding the US media rights to the EPL starting next year (coverage: 2013-16). The reported bid from NBC is $83M! This is great news for Chelsea as the increase in TV rights from Fox's $23M to NBC's $83M would amount to a cool extra $3M yearly if the $60M increase is allocated evenly among the 20 EPL teams. What this means to us American Chelsea fans is unknown. NBC has many networks, including their own "Sports Network" which is supposed to air NHL... :( If NBC plays their cards right, we could see HD coverage of many weekend games on multiple channels! It's unknown if NBC would stream games over the internet like Fox has done with FoxSoccer2Go.. but NBC does have an joint ownership in Hulu that might be the perfect venue for streaming of games. As for now, we might as well keep our expectations low and expect Fox Soccer Channel-like coverage. Let's just hope NBC hires Michael Ballack and Alexi Lalas. :)
