This is Nkumu's second loan of the season, and second of his career. The 18-year-old has been a Chelsea lad his whole career.
Archange Nkumu is a young man just a few days short of his 19th birthday with dreams of making it big one day. Plucked out of the hive of scum and villainy that is the neighborhood of Tottenham, he's been with Chelsea since age 10. He has worked his way all the way up to Reserves level in 2010-11 already and he started the 2nd leg of the FA Youth Cup Final last season. He's by no means the brightest prospect in the system but he's got plenty of time to prove himself.
The youngster made his professional debut earlier this season when he was on a short-term loan at Yeovil Town. He only played 8 minutes for the League One side; hopefully he'll see a bit more of the pitch during his next three months at fellow League One mid-table side Colchester:
It's a youth loan and, as well as being around our first team during the week, he will add to the quality of the U21s group.
I've seen him play a number of times and the level of competition at Chelsea at U21s level is exceptionally high, so it's a chance for him to come out and experience a different pathway in the game.
He'll push on the players in the U21s group and it will give us a chance to take a closer look at him.
And if that sounds like a view to a possible permanent move... well, Nkumu's contract expires at the end of this season.
