hooo-ly crap

chelsea are really serious about this game.

by CFC1905 on Jan 8, 2012 2:10 PM GMT reply actions

I think all of us would have like a younger starting line up.

However still nice to see Hutchinson on the bench.
Shame Josh is still basket bound.

by XanderL on Jan 8, 2012 2:20 PM GMT reply actions

even if you want to start a strong squad...

why no Josh??? he needs games and experience!

come.on city and earn a replay

tire each other out up in Manchester

by Jimm Bmore on Jan 8, 2012 2:34 PM GMT via Android app reply actions

It could be...

But it almost certainly won’t

by deg0ey on Jan 8, 2012 2:36 PM GMT up reply actions

Doubtful

Standard 4-3-3, with Meireles “holding”. Malouda on the right was fairly ok when used away at Valencia.

by DPeezy on Jan 8, 2012 2:36 PM GMT up reply actions

The best way to look at this lineup is...

We will almost certainly make substitutions in this game. With the exception of Ferreira, whoever comes on is a youth that we should be excited to see getting some playing time. It’s also nice to see that AVB is taking the competition seriously.

by deg0ey on Jan 8, 2012 2:36 PM GMT reply actions

Yeah

Hopefully we can get an early Torres hattrick :)

by Graham MacAree on Jan 8, 2012 2:37 PM GMT up reply actions

Value raising...

Vim pra torcer, vim pra gritar
E por você a vida inteira vou cantar!"

by trOOly on Jan 8, 2012 2:38 PM GMT up reply actions

And still might...

If we can get the game in the bag by half-time (not too unrealistic given the opposition) we might see McEachran/Lukaku/Bertrand get the entire second half

by deg0ey on Jan 8, 2012 2:40 PM GMT up reply actions

Yes, AVB is taking it seriously

But often it’s tough to get “first team” players properly motivated for a cup tie versus lower league opposition.

by DPeezy on Jan 8, 2012 2:40 PM GMT up reply actions

Any trophy is important at this moment

Just to build confidence.

Dave Kitson nearly scores.

Wib wob? Are the announcers planning on talking about the match?

Never.

Welcome to Chelsea Radio

by DPeezy on Jan 8, 2012 3:02 PM GMT up reply actions

Does anyone know Malouda's haircut?

I want to know how seriously he’s taking this game. No new haircut…pull him now.

by Culain on Jan 8, 2012 3:02 PM GMT reply actions

Always a fun game to play with Chelsea Radio

Who will Clive Walker hate on the most? He always picks one player (usually Mikel) and then just rags on him the rest of the match.

by DPeezy on Jan 8, 2012 3:04 PM GMT reply actions

Chelsea supporters sound so much better on the radio

when i watch on tv i wonder what they’re doing but you can heard all the chants on the radio

by Chelsea01 on Jan 8, 2012 3:18 PM GMT up reply actions

There's a very famous guy in Hungary who was a master at this back in the day

Even after TV broadcasts became common, people would often turn the volume down and put the radio on with him calling the game.

by DPeezy on Jan 8, 2012 3:21 PM GMT up reply actions

Yeah. I do it for Blackhawks games.

The radio guys (Wiedeman & Troy Murray) are much better than the ex-radio guy (Foley).

And of course listening to Dave was a religion as a Mariners fan…but then again, baseball is slightly more suited to the pace of radio.

by DPeezy on Jan 8, 2012 3:25 PM GMT up reply actions

At least he gets excited

He is amazing for college basketball. A bit weird for NFL football. It could be fun for soccer.

He’d remind of the Simpsons Mexican soccer commentator, I imagine.

by DPeezy on Jan 8, 2012 3:32 PM GMT up reply actions

The mispronunciations

and him getting behind a player he’s never heard of…

If it ever went to penalties it might be the best radio ever.

by Culain on Jan 8, 2012 3:33 PM GMT up reply actions

Cole hasn't missed a minute of league action yet.

Would’ve loved for Bertrand to get a chance today.

BBC radio link i clicked takes me too some broadcast from years ago

they were talking about some scolari interview about drogba and saying something about Man U winning a game having dropped Ronaldo and rooney, where am i? and where am i meant to be?

by blue_is_the_colour on Jan 8, 2012 3:20 PM GMT reply actions

BBC Five Live doesn’t seem interested in covering the game they’re supposed to.

by TPalmer on Jan 8, 2012 3:21 PM GMT up reply actions

Why are ChelseaTV radio people talking trash about Mata?

Game catching up to him, looking slow, etc.?

Uh, arguably he’s been our best player all season. What?

by ChelseaDC on Jan 8, 2012 3:25 PM GMT reply actions

This is getting crazy.

Its 7:30 am on the westcoast and i still haven’t gotten to sleep yet. I want Chelsea to put this game away quick so I can finally sleep. The things I do to watch (listen) sports…

lukaku second half

want to see him bosh his way thro and get his first senior goal for chelsea

by oli8642 on Jan 8, 2012 3:27 PM GMT reply actions

Ahh quote - from Craig Burley, who played for us for nearly 10 years, the git!:

“People talk about Andre Villas-Boas being a tactical genius but he needs to find a way to get Mata in behind the striker and let him go into those pockets behind people and play balls alongside centre-halves. At the moment he’s playing wide and if you’re up against him you’d be happy. I’ve got a huge reservation about the manager and there are a lot of people within this club who aren’t sure about this fellow.”

by David Drabble on Jan 8, 2012 3:39 PM GMT up reply actions

There's a really fat man playing for Peterborough

And their mascot is a deranged bunny.
Lower league football FTW!

We don’t know the reputation of this woman she might have said something to piss him off.

by Sabrina Dessipe on Jan 8, 2012 3:44 PM GMT up reply actions

And this is why Chelsea radio is superior

At least they are generally on the “good” side of the fence and won’t rag on Chelsea just for the fun of it.

by DPeezy on Jan 8, 2012 3:41 PM GMT up reply actions

To be fair, it was kinda funny

And certainly staged. Although I looked at it as more of a middle finger to the media.

by DPeezy on Jan 8, 2012 3:42 PM GMT up reply actions

I dont get why people even care that some players decided to celebrate that way if they scored?

What is with the commentators and blasting that. Many people plan their goal celebrations. That just happened to be planned by a group and it involved going to the coach.

Throw youth on the pitch. That solves most problems.

At least put Josh on. For Lamps/Raul or better yet Malouda.

we need to finish above Sunderland this season so that we are considered a big club.

Peterborough – Sunderland is better entertainment, especially for the neutral.

This comment has solidified the fact that I made the right choice in dropping Australia

from places I need to visit or live. You know what country I love? Iceland… one of the reasons why? No spiders.

Warm desert-y areas are the worst.

Give me a nice temperate rain forest any day. Portland and MLS Season Tickets as soon as I finish my Library Sciences masters.

by Culain on Jan 9, 2012 3:13 AM GMT up reply actions

Worse than desert-y areas are

tropical climates… as far as bugs go (unless we’re gonna talk about camel spiders or some of that crap). But I went to Haiti and did not appreciate the spiders there. And the cockroaches are the size of small birds. Imagine I could find much worse in more forested areas.

by theRamster on Jan 8, 2012 4:53 PM GMT reply actions

Difficult to tell from radio commentary

It’s so skewed by the (ridiculous) opinions of the people reporting. Looking at the stats, you’d think 4-0 was a pretty reasonable scoreline

by deg0ey on Jan 8, 2012 4:54 PM GMT up reply actions

Unfortunately he cant deliver them to himself yet…

Confirmed...

Stylist to the Chelsea stars was on a tweetfest the other day about cutting his hair, as well as Mata and JT. Bet he regrets mentioning Torres now… he probably has 9023840932850 followers hounding him.

Sometimes I see things on The Shed… most of the time it’s just crap though.

His hands have moved to new places I see....

maybe next time try his foot or leg… then maybe it will have goal scoring abilities. And does anyone ever pray for DL? Just once… ask that he has a great game without a mishap and that the press shut their pieholes?

On a side note; wouldn’t mind being right there in the middle :)
