Patrick van Aanholt returns from loan
According to the official website, Wigan and Chelsea have both agreed to end the season long loan immediately. No immediate plans for van Aanholt have been announced, but I'd imagine the idea is to send him back out on loan to a club that will actually utilize his talents. The first half of this season can really go down as nothing but a waste for van Aanholt. He was generally playing very well in his four appearances at Wigan before suddenly being dropped from the regular 18 man squad.
Where van Aanholt goes for the remainder of the season is yet unknown, but I'd probably be looking for either a Championship side or one in a league on the mainland. He definitely did not benefit from his time at Wigan, and it would be a real shame to see the 2011/2012 season become a total waste. I'd not expect to see PvA feature on his return to Chelsea, as official matches for two clubs would make him ineligible to play again on loan this season. Welcome back PvA, sorry that we sent you to rot in Wigan for the first half...

Hopefully he goes somewhere where he can get more experience
I’d like to see what he does in the future.
We could too!
haha… Ashley could use a break once in a while. But I gather PvA could probably use a little more experience.
We have one but he's injured...
If you’re offering we’ll take!

It's ok, I used to get bemused by "new year" jokes, too
But now I’m old, bitter, and jaded. Don’t worry, you’ll get there, too.
Yes!!!!!!
He was definitely good enough for Wigan, only God knows why he never even made the 18 man squad for such a long time. That being said, we should loan him again to a struggling PL side as he’s good enough for that level. And this time someone who we can trust.
Next season Cole will definitely need rotating, and in my opinion if he plays continuosly for this half of the season he’ll be ready for that role.

Shit treatment by Wigan
Glad the loan has ended, hope we move him someplace bette.r
PvA could walk into any team in the lower half of the PL
Wigan should have used him a lot more. I wouldn’t mind sending him on loan to Bolton if it’ll reduce the fee for Cahill? But then they didn’t give Kakuta much of a run either-down to him not displaying his talent, not sure. But Bolton should be good. Don’t want a Championship loan cuz he’s already proven he can cut it there.

I apologize
on behalf of Wigan I would lie to say sorry, what happened I do by know, but this lad had talent and should have featured more.
its a sad thing really, there were rumours he spat his dummy out for going to Wigan but I doubt that.
it will forever be a mystery.

I was so confused by his absence
I can certainly understand if Martinez felt he needed to run some experience out there in the starting 11 given their position in the table, but I really don’t get how he was never in their 18.

PVA is a LB
It’s pointless to test him in attack…

When John Terry was a midfielder
It probably seemed silly to waste him in defense

PVA
PVA should go to Swansea, Norwich, Bolton, or Blackburn. He’d immediately start on anyone of those teams.
Wouldn't mind seeing PvA stay at the club
and Bertrand moving on to find a PL loan. They both seem like equal talents, and we could see a Sturridge-like explosion with Bertrand should he find the right club, given that performances by English prospects are overly exposed and magnified compared to others (see Walker, Kyle).
I really can't tell who's better...
PVA or Bertrand. Both have scored some great goals from LB, both are pretty even on pace, only difference I see is PVA is more willing to cut inside towards goal than Bertrand is… and Bertrand seems to like staying on the outside and crossing in. They can do both equally well though.. AAARRRGGGHHHH we’ve GOT to be the only club with a shitload of young LB talent, it’s ridiculous… Not to mention the pretty awesome Adam Nditi at youth/reserve level.
Actually...
Think PvA’s got the pace on Bertrand. Attacking sense,PvA is a better option in my books…but Bertrand seems a bit more well rounded. But then again,PvA can only get better. Both need to get a run in at some point. We have to send one of them on loan, keep one as back up. Easier to let Bertrand have the full season here to see what he can do,send PvA to another PL club.

I don't know about you...
but I don’t think Wigan knows talent even if it’s loaned out to them…
