Gary Cahill will not be playing for Bolton in the FA Cup and other tidbits
As has been the case many times recently this season, Owen Coyle's pre-match press conference turned into a Q&A about the Gary Cahill situation. The BBC has several interesting quotes, some involving the ongoing transfer speculation and some involving the match this weekend. As for the rumors that Manchester United was in on Cahill all of a sudden:
There hasn't been any dialogue between ourselves and Manchester United or anything like that. When there's continued conjecture and everything that goes with it people are always going to throw up names. We as a football club agreed a deal with Chelsea Football Club and for me that's binding. The only way that will fall down is if the relevant parties don't agree. But my own feeling is I'm pretty sure they can get to a place that they're all happy.
That pretty much ends all of the speculation about United, Spurs, or Liverpool jumping into the fray at this late stage and taking the Chelsea target out from under their noses. Coyle was then asked about what role Cahill will play this weekend:
Gary Cahill will be one of those to miss out on the game, and it's nothing to do with the continuing speculation regarding Chelsea. He's one of a number of players that probably needs to rest given the amount of games they've played.
That may be true, but I'd imagine even if Coyle was feeling like playing his first 11 that the club would be hesitant to cup tie the player anyway. Coyle has also intimated to reporters that he feels a deal will likely be done in the next 48 hours or so, and I'm sure due to ongoing negotiations with Bolton that he has some idea what it is that the player is currently seeking as far as dollars. We'll keep you updated, but I don't think it's going to be very long now before we announce our first signing of the January window.

It's bullshit
Lampard would never want to go there, and we would never sell to them in January, unless it was for idiotic money.
Cahill?!
As we near closer to purchasing Cahill for our “porous” back line…I can’t help but think that Samba would have been a better purchase?! Or am I wrong?! ;)
no
u r absolutely right..even i dont want this deal happening. It has increased even more after seeing his attitude. n except for his age(29 is not bad either i think), I feel chris samba would be good option.
PS:- I have also heard spurs going after samba for 8-9 million.Anyway, it is manager’s decision whom to choose
Samba was born in 1984...isn't it???
So that makes him late 27 or early 28 maybe…

yup
Sorry my bad..He is 27 actually which is even more better
I'd rather have Cahill
Similar players, but Cahill is probably a little more mobile, younger, and uses a homegrown slot on the roster.

Fergie has said
he doesn’t think ‘chelsea will sell lampard as chelsea are trying to do well in second half and would need their better players’
This does not mean that he does not want Lampard…fishy!!!

Any team would want Lampard
And that’s not just fanboy talk. A proven performer who’s pretty consistent. Scores a lot of goals to boot. Fergie wouldn’t even think about trying to get him from us but he won’t deny he’d like to have Frankie at his club.

And I'd pick Cahill over Samba
A little younger,doesn’t occupy a non-homegrown slot,and I think on his day,Cahill is a better defender than Samba…maybe Samba’s more of an aerial presence but that’s it.

Blooding Cahill in our own FA Cup match on Sunday would be ideal
Of course, it’s not yet the last day of the transfer window. Surely we can’t sign anybody before then?
Bolton are allegedly nearing a deal for Red Bulls defender Tim Ream for about 3M…that tells me that Cahill is nearly completed and his day at the training ground holding up a jersey is imminent.
Only if he brings 100 black gloves with him
One for every win that he’ll get in a Chelsea shirt. Hall of Fame, here he comes!
A friend has told me that Di Matteo said we will get no one else besides Cahill this window.
True or false?
If true, is this a cover-up?
I’m not confident of our current squad’s ability to finish fourth, if I’m being honest. Even with Cahill (like it means much, lol).
Is your friend ITK?
Does he know Di Matteo? If not I don’t know if I’d trust him. If so good luck finishing fourth.
Haha

We can still finish fourth
Because Arsenal are not going to buy anyone besides Henry and LIverpool are going to play with Caroll.
You don't know who's going to sign who.
Besides we have a few LANS coming back into the side.

I don't think we've reached the shittiest point yet. Mata or Danny get injured for a significant
amount of time and…….. shivers
