Solving our problem at Right-Back
Clearly... we need a new right back, i like paulo ferreira, but hes pushing on in years, and doesnt look the same player he was a couple seasons ago, while jose bosingwa is terrible in the air and at pretty much, well... defending in general. He also cant cross to save his life. Ivanovic is our best option, but i'm not too impressed with him definsively, especially this season.

I was thinking of someone to bring in and i was wondering if Mauricio Isla would be a good option? He has been linked to PSG this past week, and Ancelotti apparently wants him to play as a right back for them.I have never seen him actually play as a right back, but he is a great player who i have been impressed with in attack and defence ,he is also very versatile, playing as a right wing for the Chilean national team and as a DM at Udinese, i reckon if he can play right back as well as he can play right wing, I think he would be an excellent option for us for years to come if we could nab him. He would, depending on his abilities as an RB, probably be my first choice over all the RB's we have been linked with.
As far as an RB we have actually been linked with recently,I do like Van Der Wiel, but at this point it seems almost certain he is already set up to be transfered to Valencia in the summer. Which is a shame. I also do like Azpilcueta of Marseille who we were linked with last week, but he is a bit injury prone. While Samuel Inkoom is also a good option, as well as Martin Montoya.
So what do you guys think? Is Isla a good option? Can we still possibly get Van Der Wiel? Otherwise who do you think is a good choice?
CFC for life

I keep hearing the Spainard Azpicuwhatever is a great at defending and attacking, much
like Cole in his prime. That said, I really like Bane at RB. He’s so much better there than in the center.
I saw a rumor about him earlier today
So he’s not unheard of. But just like all other rumors, it’s just idle speculation at this point.
But he's Uruguayan
And all Uruguayans are racist
i saw the fucile rumours
im not so keen on him, i dont think he starts for porto or uruguay does he? hes also 27 which is too old i reckon

I think if we can pull off one really good signing this winter
It will help with recruitment for the summer. If Chelsea’s people can say
“Mr. ______ , look we’re starting afresh at Chelsea, we want you to be part of the next team of Chelsea greats. Look how we’ve backed, supported and PAID the last crop of Chelsea stars. Look at what we’ve done in the last couple windows. Ramires, Mata, Luiz, Torres, Lukaku, Courtois and ______ (please be Hazard). Get in on this, let’s win trophies.”
But if we let a transfer window go by and say LOOK WE BOUGHT A CAHILL….that’s not going to be ideal.
Azpilicueta: 10 Reasons Why...
1. Will add youth.
2. He’s Spanish, bonus for Oriol, Mata & Torres.
3. Seems like he’s destined to be the replacement for Sergio Ramos in the Spanish national team.
4. Experience at a young age. (First team right-back at age 18)
5. Started off playing as a midfielder.
6. He’s a Left footed right back.
7. Great at attacking defender.
8. Big teams where in for him before Marseille scooped him up.
9. Pace.
10. Definitely better than Bosingwa & Ferreira put together.
Azpilicueta is our man!!! IMO

Completely agree
Azpilicueta seems to fit in to where chelsea seems to be going at the moment, trying to play “attractive” football by bringing in young talent such as mata, luiz, ramires, lukaku, ect. Of the defenders available Azpilicueta seems to be the best option, and I can see us swooping in and picking him up. Although it would cost us a lot because of their champions league needs, he would fit in with the current crop of Iberians, and play fun, attacking football. Hopefully the loads of youngsters on loan/ reserves can step up when AVB gives them chances and eventually win titles.
From Stamford Bridge to Wembley, KTBFFH
Very few in the world can both attack and defend with aplomb and panache enough to satisfy everybody
I seriously cant understand what people like about Van der Wiel.
I follow the Dutch league and he sometimes even struggles with the horrible wingers in the Eredivisie. He has a bit of pace and technique but he cant defend and his crossing is just as bad as Bosingwa.
People should really watch some streams of Ajax games. He is hugely overrated by alot of people who have never even seen him play. He was terrible in the 2010/2011 season.
I'm not convinced RB is that huge a problem that we'd need to splash out right now
Definitely required in the summer though.
I want a young RB that can play well in attack and defense.
So far Azpilicueta seems to be one of the best options.
Bane is a more than suitable RB imo. Way better there than in the center. I could see why
AVB would want an attacking (and solid defensively) RB like Az though.
Something that's funny...
is that on Fifa 12 is you play with Gregory van der Wiel, the commentator will say something along the lines of, “This players sometimes troubles himself with attacking and doesn’t really worry about defending”
