Nottingham Forest Confirm Chelsea Bid For Patrick Bamford
It sounds like the Patrick Bamford rumours from earlier today are accurate - Nottingham Forest are apparently mulling over a £1.5M offer (I've seen the breakdown as a guaranteed £1M plus £500,000 should he make his full Chelsea debut at any point) for their 18-year-old striker. BBC are quoting manager Steve Cotterill discussing his star prospect, who's out of contract this summer:
We need to find out where [the Chelsea bid] goes. Bamford is out of contract at the end of the season and, should he sign for another club, any fee would be decided by tribunal.
Patrick's been offered a couple of contracts now. He's been training with the first team for the last three months, which I certainly think has helped his play in the youth games.
With Forest under threat of relegation, they may be well served to cash in on a player who's not going to help them for a little while and send that money elsewhere. Considering Bamford's phenomenal goalscoring record for the academy team, this looks like it could be a pretty fun pickup for Chelsea, should they manage to land him. I think Steve's working on a profile of the youngster right now, but in the meantime here's a quick video to whet your collective appetite.

I was joking with The Bison
Patrick’s a centre forward. His record for youth squads indicates that he’s got all the potential to be a good player, but he’s so young it’s impossible to project him at this point.

Dude, seriously, a goal with every 5th touch
So that means…[gets calculator out]…that he’ll score like a gajillion goals over the course of a season.

It was a reference to Essien's jibe back in Dec, 2006.

“We are much better than Manchester United,” said the Ghana international.
“It is just a matter of days before we are the leaders. I have done the calculations and we will finish at least five points clear of United at the top of the table.”
I just signed the lease
SHIT! Fallen for subliminal advertising yet again. Oh well, at least I got this Sham-WOW to wipe me tears with.
