Chelsea FC Transfer Rumours: Alex In Paris For Medical

Photo

It looks as though the long-running Alex transfer is about to be concluded - at least, that's if leParisien.fr is to be trusted. According to the French website, the 29-year-old Brazilian centre back is expected in Paris at some point on Friday to take a medical and to sign a contract with Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain. We've also got an estimate on the transfer fee PSG would pay Chelsea: €5M, which is pretty good going considering we had absolutely no leverage and previous suitor Queens Park Rangers apparently were bidding around 75% of that figure.

The QPR transfer fell through because the Premier League newcomers couldn't afford Alex's hefty £60,000 per week wages, but there'll be no such problem at PSG as the French club looks to use its new riches to become a European powerhouse. Alex, who's apparently signing on through the end of the 2014/15 season, should help settle a back line that hasn't really seen any central defender stake a claim to a regular starting spot, plus he'll get to reunite with Carlo Ancelotti, which I imagine involves some awesome hugs.

Incidentally, if you'd told me this time last year that Alex was going to play in the same team as Javier Pastore I'd have been way happier about that news than I am right now.

I'm going to take the optimistic approach

And say that these extra 5 million Euros are going to go towards another bid for Willian, which should probably be enough to bring him in. Also, we should take this time to relive Alex’s howitzer of a right foot. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7BYGZIkzBkE&list=FLYc9u-Jz1t13CJm7O84qPyA&index=6&feature=plpp_video Good luck in France!

Good news

Alex seems like a big old teddy bear (with free kicks that might decapitate people), and I wish nothing but good things for him. Glad he can go to a club that isn’t relegation-hopefuls QPR, and play for a decent team.

It's good that he is moving to PSG...

He will still be playing for a club that’s gonna challenge for trophies and not battling for mere survival.

GOOD LUCK ALEX :)
Tell Papa Carlo that we still like him.

Cheers,

really hope this goes through

one of those things where it’s really best for all parties. Alex will get the playing time and competition he deserves, consistenly challenging to play in the Champions League for a pretty exciting up-and-coming project. good luck to Alex and big up to Chelsea if this concludes like this …

Yep.

Alex has hung in as the third choice back for longer than most players of his caliber would, and without most of the bitching. Terrific memories of him, and I’d much rather see him go to a club like PSG than QPR

Spanish rumor of the day: David Luiz in exchange for.... wait for it........... PEPE!

Real Madrid’s Pepe!

We would have to be borderline insane to even consider accepting this…..

I was actually excited about the Pepe news

but not at the expense of Luiz,by any means :O I wouldn’t really mind a hardman defender/defensive mid at Chelsea.

Hardman?

More like thug man. For all the flack that Luiz gets for his occasionally aggressive tackles, Pepe would double our disciplinary record… one that is already pretty poor. He just kicks the shit out of opposition players… I may be biased, but I don’t believe I have ever seen him play a game where he wasn’t drawing cards or tons of fouls. If they exist, I simply didn’t have the luck of watching them.

hahahahahaha

Oh wait, you’re serious? Let me laugh harder. Nothing cracks me up like lazy/flat out false transfer rumours. It amazes me the stuff websites/journalists get paid to publish.

It amuses me

that QPR like to tell us they’re richer than us but fail to pay a 60.000 GBP salary? Oh …

It was first used in a Cup game seasons ago

2007/2008 I think, but according to QPR forums they used it again in this year’s EPL clash
