Some potentially good news on the Lucas Moura front
We heard a few weeks ago that we had bid on Lucas Moura and that amount was confirmed yet again today. Many media outlets have been reporting quotes from Moura's agent this morning, I'll link you the Sky Sports article just due to the general awesomeness of the picture they used. Several quotes caught my eye as being somewhat interesting:
Sao Paulo have not expressed an interest in selling Lucas, but I can say that we've heard from people connected with the club over an offer from Chelsea for €35million.
This more or less confirms what we already knew...Chelsea have legitimate interest in adding Moura to the youth movement at the bridge. This is good news on several fronts. We've set the bar pretty high here for other European clubs if they want to get involved with the bidding for the young star, so I'd guess we can safely eliminate the vast majority of Europe as legitimate suitors now. This would also lead us to believe that we're pretty close with the club on a deal with the club should the player feel ready to test himself in England. The price seems fairly reasonable in my eyes so that's always a plus. On a somewhat less positive note:
Lucas does not have the desire to leave Sao Paulo, so we've not started any talks with a club abroad. I can assure you the boy will remain with Sao Paulo until the summer.
That pretty solidly rules out a move in January. That's not the worst news ever, but as one of the few non-cup tied players we've been linked with he'd have been a nice fit. It does appear that the player may be willing to leave in June though, so hopefully we continue to show interest. Regardless of your feelings on Moura as a player this news is generally very good. We're definitely looking at young world class talent, and we're definitely willing to spend large amounts of money to secure that talent. With several players likely heading to new homes come June that can only be viewed as a positive.

Even if we don't get Lucas Moura
I think the fact that we bid this much shows that we are serious about bringing in an attacker this window. I’m very excited for how the rest of this week will play out.
Obviously...
right now Mourinho must be thinking of ways to stop Barca from running riot at Nou Camp…
:D :)
not to worry as ‘the special one’ is here…

Seriously though
This is good news for us,if its true. Lucas Moura is a pretty great player. But I guess its gonna be either one of him or Hazard, right? In that case I still think I’d prefer Lucas…though I’m open to discussion on this one.
Let's sent Ramires and David Luiz...
to convince him to come to Chelsea as I understnad freaking Lucio is pushing hard to an Inter move. _"

As a matter of fact don't let nothin' hold you back.
If the Scatman can do it brother so can you.
Yo I'm the Scatman.
Also heard that our interest
in Hazard is real and serious too…
If we can get both of them, it would be great not just for the future…but for the present as well…
Seems to me that the agent is trying to increase the price a bit more…maybe we can offer Alex free with that amount we bid…

I really prefer Hazard of the two, but the fact that we're showing interest is really promising.
I think you generally get better value buying players from non-powerhouse countries.
Saw a stat on this transfer window this morning. Last year over 200 million was spent-this year somewhere around 20. It’s just not us that aren’t spending-and we are still one of the bigger spenders with what we spent on Cahill.
Last year was largely due to the last day of the window though
Carroll at 35
Torres at 50
Luiz at 21

Those stats are also a bit flakey
Because they count the same money being spent more than once…The 35 spent on Carroll came out of the 50 spent on Torres (for example) so the total cash flow would still be 50m
luiz still has the same value, as for the other two x___X

We should buy Carroll for 50m just to watch Liverpool spend most of that on Leon Best.
Just cause we can.
I would pay Liverpool 50m just so I could watch them throw 35m into the money pit that is...
…Newcastle, but it would mean we have to have Andy Carroll. : (

That would upset the FA so much that they will ban us from the EPL!
I mean, how can they allow the then becoming Racist FC™ to establish something in the league?
Tor ilisar'thera'nal!
Send David Luiz and Lucas Piazon
to tell them why chelsea is better than sao paulo…after all, both are products.
Maybe AVB should have taken the boys
on a trip to Latin America instead of Spain…
Lots of our targets are there…Lucas & Neymar in Brazil…Ocampos in Argentina… :)

Signing De Bruyne and Hazard
Would be sure up LW and RW and allow Sturridge to move central and Mata to move behind the strikers. We need to make those moves. If we do, Lucas in the summer becomes more of a luxury.

It comes from a more obscure meaning of the noun "shore"
As in a prop set against the side of a building to hold it up or a support beam to prevent sagging/sinking.
So in that sense, to “shore up” actually does not really mean to “improve” rather than just to support it enough so that it doesn’t collapse.
São Paulo wants Nilmar from Villarreal
I’m sure that the amount of money they’d get from a possible Lucas transfer would be more than enough to get him, even though I wouldn’t sell my wonderkid of 20, 21 yrs old to buy someone with as many injury problems as Nilmar.

That would be a good deal for them
Nilmar still has a lot to give, and they’d have leftover money.

I think they'd get a better return
If they keep Lucas and sell him after the World Cup, just like Santos is planning to do with Neymar. Both of them will be much more valuable at the time. And I know Nilmar still has a lot left in his tank, but it’s nowhere as near as Lucas’.

They won't cash in the entire money
But it still is a good amount of money.

Not worth it.
i wouldn’t take him. He seems to have the same mind as Ramires. Attack over pass. Our 4 3 3 needs midfielders who can play that tiqui-taca style. Aka 1 touch play. Which is what Andre Villas Boas wants. So, no. Not worth it.
The only youngster who fits in what you're looking for
Is Mario Gotze, and it’s unlikely that he’ll land in Stamford Bridge if he has to choose between us, Real Madrid and Barça (a scenario that is bound to happen someday)

I don't think Barca
Want him or have the funds to get him.. They are bound to go after a CB Hummels I suppose. And he seems like the person who wouldn’t got to a club where he doesn’t have 1st team place. Real Madrid are likely to sign Neymar or Hazard after then signing Gotze makes no sense. So we are with a good shot.
As for someone else who fits what M I S O is describing Eriksen seems a player like that.
