Yesterday Drogba was devouring people, today he's a little girl

Tee hee...

With Didier Drogba's contract coming to an end in June we can expect to see never ending rumors about his potential landing spot from now until the end of the season. He's been linked to Shanghai and a reunion with Nicolas Anelka for some time now just due to the Chinese club's ability to match his wage demands and take on an aging star. Today that link produced a quote that had me rolling on the ground laughing. According to several sources a representative of the Shanghai club was quoted with the following:

It's like flirting with a girl. Perhaps she will resist you at first, but if you continue to ask her out, it always ends well. Never give up.

While this doesn't hint any further at an imminent departure, comparing Drogs to a girl you are courting is just priceless. This goes right up there with the Yuri Zhirkov ribeye steak comparison from 18 months ago in my book as far as the amount of humor I found in such an innocent quote. With AVB suggesting that the price for strikers is too high at the moment I'd be shocked if Drogba moves on this January, but I'm sure I'll giggle while picturing him as a little girl the next time he absolutely devours an opposing center back.

LOL, but I'd really like to know

Sound's a bit predatory

I’d be a little worried. Watch out for chloroform and roofies!

Could we really get a substantive amount of money out of Shenhua to let Drogba leave now?

I can’t really imagine them offering enough to outweigh the benefits of keeping Didier until the summer. Our best course is probably still to just let his contract play out.

Since we don't know for sure

what they paid for Anelka, it’s even more difficult to say
