Chelsea FC Transfer Rumours: No Approach For Cesar Azpilicueta
Those of you pining for a new Chelsea right back this window and specifically picking out Marseille's Cesar Azpilicueta as your man may not be too happy about this. Despite the Blues being thoroughly linked to the defender, he's claiming that no contact has yet been made:
There has been no contact, and I am still bound to OM until 2014. Now, if the leaders of Chelsea want me, they should first discuss that with OM. If a proposal comes, I will think about it.
It is more difficult to start in the national team when you do not play at a great club. You have to be at Real Madrid or Barcelona. But I feel good today at OM.

Now, obviously it's good news that he'd apparently welcome an approach from the Blues, but you'd have expected the team to be in touch (even if unofficially) with Marseille had they any intention of going after Azpilicueta this window, and for that to then filter down to the player. Personally, I'm not hugely concerned about this - he's a nice player but I'm not sure he's a star, and with Branislav Ivanovic and Jose Bosingwa our right-back corps is adequate, if a little bit odd.
I'm also all aboard the Tommy-Kalas-as-our-future-right-back train (he's so fast that I think he's wasted as a centre half), so I'm less inclined to spend money on blocking him off for a minor upgrade for the next couple of seasons (especially as Azpilicueta's cup-tied in Europe this year). If Chelsea could focus their energies anywhere, I'd hope it'd be on the left wing.

Completely agree
I’m happy with the depth and strength all over the pitch except in forwards. He’d be nice in the summer if at a decent price but right now i think a priority has to be getting a left winger. Although if we don’t I still think we have a strong enough squad to get through the and challenge for a higher position.
That said the addition of Hazard, Jovetic or any high quality left winger would mean we’d almost definitely start to move up the table even if only by one position. I couldn’t stand Tottenham finished ahead of us. We’ve been the highest finishing club in London for so long it would be heart breaking to lose that now. One of the reasons we’re so attractive in the transfer market is because of our location (who wants to live in Manchester or Liverpool? I’ve lived in both. Boring places.) I don’t want Tottenham to start buying better players than us!
Outside the EPL
and going with this PSG might even be heaven as a place on earth :P

Right, so we're not after this guy?
Awesome; at least now I don’t have to try and figure out how to pronounce his name.
Buff-(g)len
Wrap your head around that shit.
I just called him Big Buff. And the pure awesomeness of him v. the Canucks shall live in Blackhawk lore for eternity: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSWrljZQJcY
The club is clearly after a winger/attacker
I think we’re done with defenders for now

Before reading the headline
just had the glance at the image and thought “w00t we get an Arsenal player?”

Arshavin should never be referenced with a "woot"
Unless it’s a “woot, Arshavin starts” whenever we play the Arse.
We use w00t losely for surprises of all kind
not positive ones only :D
But in accord to this it could also be “w00t Arshavin plays against Pool”. Got it!

"If Chelsea focus their energies somewhere, I hope it would be left wing"
Getting the indication you want Jovetic or Hazard…or am I crazy? ;)
