Patrick van Aanholt joins Vitesse on loan for the remainder of the season
Vitesse this morning released a statement confirming that dutch left back Patrick van Aanholt will be joining Vitesse on loan for the remainder of the campaign. While this is clearly a step back in terms of the overall quality of competition that PvA will be facing it will certainly involve the youngster getting regular playing time. Right now that is probably the most important factor in his development, so hopefully this allows Wigan to see what they were missing out on. PvA will be training will the club beginning tomorrow and will be available for selection as the Eredivisie resumes action this weekend.
For both Chelsea and Vitesse this is potentially a very good move. The addition of van Aanholt is going to make Vitesse that much more dangerous in the attack, and that will in turn help them as they push for a European spot next season. Having a spot in either Europa or the Champions League would make Vitesse a much more viable loan destination for our youngsters going forward. All told I really like this move and hope PvA really shines when he returns to the Netherlands. Best of luck Patrick, we'll be watching...

Really looking forward to the second half of this season.
Wiith players like van Aanholt and Kalas, i hope we can push forward to the cup final, even when we missing Bony and Annan(Africa Cup) and our great captain Kashia(suspended) in the quarter final against Heerenveen. And I hope we can end top 5, we probably need one more midfielder or attacker(Hopefully Kadlec:Sparta Prague). But I believe our new striker Jonathan Reis will do the job just fine. And I hope Davila will develop and get more used to Holland and can become a keyplayer(but I really doubt it).
I hope if he impresses
Villas-Boas rotates him next season with Cole.

Either Van Aanholt ot Bertrand will have to say goodbye to the club
Since there’s only one LB spot.
I choose Aanholt because I like him more :D

Well, seeing as how Bertrand signed a fresh new contract last summer to unofficially become Ashley's official understudy...
I’m guessing at this point the club is hoping that PvA can serve as the eventual backup…
Well seeing as outside of the Carling Cup Ashley has started every game
Except one which we had to play Bossman at left back, I don’t see either of them starting a game outside the Carling cup anytime soon.
also bertrand is english!
but van aanholt is younger…

I think Bertrand is just further along in his development
The fact that we originally sent PvA on such an aggressive loan this fall should tell us something about how we view his potential as a club. It’s just a shame that he was in the basket the whole time.
