Chelsea FC Loan Roundup: 1/15/12

Photo

Another weekend is in the books, and this one will leave us with a slightly longer loan roundup than the last one. Josh McEachran will be heading to Wales this week but has not yet begun his spell there. Gael Kakuta has arrived in France and been handed the #12 jersey but was not yet ready for this weekends game. Both will likely see some action next weekend though, and Bruma, Kalas, Davila, and Delac will all be returning to action as well. We'll also be able to look forward to the debut of Kenneth Omeruo as the Eredivisie returns to action, but I'd expect that may be a few weeks away. Enough on that though, let's get into what happened with the kids that actually played this week:

  • Thibaut Courtois - The competitive balance in La Liga seem to be changing, and it was much in evidence as Villarreal provided absolutely no challenge to the young Belgian over the weekend. Atletico easily won 3-0 as Courtois had almost nothing to do for a change. Courtois also finished 3rd in the voting for the Belgian Golden Shoe, an award that goes to the best player in the Belgian League during the calender year. It's an impressive finish for Courtois when considering that he spent only half the season there. Things continue to look good for Courtois...
  • Rhys Taylor - Taylor was not as good as he was in his debut as he suffered defeat to Swindon by a 2-1 scoreline. While he wasn't bad by any stretch, he certainly could have been a bit more assertive during this one. His job doesn't appear to be in any jeopardy and I'd assume in the next few weeks his 1 month loan will become a season long loan.
  • Ben Gordon - Gordon started at left back and played the full 90 in his debut for Killie. He was relatively impressive in the 0-0 draw, but he's had some success in the SPL before so this should come as no surprise. He was one of the better players on the pitch this weekend which will hopefully be a regular event now. Nice to see him playing again...

That's it for this weekend, but as mentioned above the report will get longer again next week. We'll keep you posted as any other loans are announced, but I have the feeling we're nearing the end of those for this season.

About Davila

I find it really odd that he’s finding it so hard to get game time…maybe he should find another club this month? Or is it just Bony Wilfried’s form keeping him out of the team? And has Omeruo’s signing been confirmed by Chelsea? Think I missed it.

Thanks Stephen

Always enjoy reading these posts about our loanees. This may be a dumb question, but is there a loan window that lines up with the transfer window? Or can loans happen any time?

Also, it was nice watching Swans beat the gunners today. They look really good I’m excited for Joshua.
Do you think he’ll slot right in to the first team?

Not right into the team, but def more playing time!

hmm, dont think so. But he will/should get more playing time there, and thats what we want. They wouldnt want to change a winning team and at the moment, Joe Allen, Dyer and company are doing a neat job.

Bony is a striker. Davila is a midfielder.

It’s probably the form of Marco van Ginkel that’s keeping him out.

Oh okay.

Heard he plays both CAM as well as forward, though? It doesn’t seem to be because of his form because he’s been playing well with the reserves,I heard…

Davila isn't really too much of a concern

He wasn’t a first team regular yet in Mexico, there was very little reason to think he’d be an instant regular in a much better league. There will be an adjustment period for him, it’s probably best to just leave him in one place and watch how he develops.

Who will be the most likely partner for Josh??

I think it will be Britton but havent seen many Swansea games and Joe Alllen also looks good at times and what about the new signing? Can someone brief me about te Swanselona’s CMs So I am sure that Josh gets playing time.

Here you go

I think they play a Fluid 4-2-3-1 with Allen and Britton dictating things…When Ancelotti was in charge, Mceachran played way too deep in midfiel for my liking…so Josh would want to play a bit higher up the pitch inorder make things happen..maybe? Anyway they’ve also bot someone names Sigurdsson (Ive got no clue about thim though)…

Is it true that van Aanholt is going out on loan to Vitesse?

Multiple dutch media confirm that van aanholt agreed to go out on loan to Vitesse. Does someone knows if this is true?

Yeah

PvA confirmed it on his twitter account.

What about Benayoun?

Hi guys this is my first post, but I’ve been following this truly awesome blog for a few months now. I don’t watch Arsenal that much, but he barely gets game time in the few matches that I’ve watched. I think he would be a perfect short term fix to our creativity problems, he was Chelsea’s best player in the preseason and I was shocked to see him loaned out to Arsenal. I’d like to see the Benayoun – Torres combo this January, Chelsea should recall him.

I don't think that's a good idea

in fact I think it’s time Chelsea let Benny go for good take whatever Arsene will pay for him. I think that’s the best for all involved really. I’m sure a Torres-Benayoun pairing would be terrible anyway.

i doubt he will play for us again too

i always liked him though, severely underrated player in my mind, a shame he ruptured is achillies and missed so much of last season, given more playing time, i bet he would still be a chelsea player today
