Ben Gordon heading to Kilmarnock on loan for the remainder of the season

Photo

It was all quiet on the loan front for the first few days of the transfer window, but things are certainly starting to heat up a bit now. According to the BBC (and others), Ben Gordon will be heading back north to Kilmarnock to rejoin the club with which he spent the first half of the 2010/2011 season. Gordon is an interesting youngster, being good enough to feature in the England youth setup regularly but buried behind several other extremely talented young left backs at Chelsea. While it's a new coaching staff at the club, I imagine that they are still plenty familiar with what Ben can bring to the table and will be able to find a use for his talents.

It's a bit of a surprise move for the club as Gordon was recalled from Scotland initially because the club felt they'd be better able to evaluate Gordon in the Championship as opposed to the SPL. He featured regularly in his first spell at the Championship with Scunthorpe last spring before rotting on the Peterborough bench this past fall. Gordon did seem to enjoy his time at Killie though, so hopefully this will be another good spell for the 20 year old. Like Gael Kakuta and Patrick van Aanholt it's probably more important for Ben to play on a weekly basis than it is to worry about where he's doing it. Kilmarnock will next be in action this Saturday when they travel to Aberdeen, we'll be keeping you informed with his progress in our weekly loan roundups.
