Gael Kakuta officially joins Dijon on loan for the remainder of the season

France is that way...

After several solid showings for the Chelsea first team Gael Kakuta has had disappointing loan spells at Fulham and Bolton respectively with an underwhelming U20 World Cup in between. With some of the luster starting to wear off of the promising attacker Chelsea have decided to go a different direction with their young Frenchman. Instead of seeking a third consecutive loan spell with a Premier League side in hopes that Kakuta can finally break through Chelsea have made the decision to allow Kakuta to return to his native France for the remainder of the season in search of more certain playing time.

This is certainly a step back in terms of the overall quality of competition that Kakuta will be facing, but hopefully getting a string of first team games will allow Kakuta to showcase his technical gifts that had him rated so highly by Chelsea in the first place. There is no doubt that Kakuta still has the ability to become something really special, but if he's to have any sort of future at Chelsea he really needs to start getting some regular first team action immediately. It's unclear at this point how Dijon intends to use Gael but at this point just being on the pitch is really what's important. Ligue 1 returns to action this weekend and Dijon will be hosting Evian Thonon Galliar. I'd be a little surprised to see Kakuta featured in this one as he just joined the club, but I'm sure that Chelsea were quite conscious of Kakuta's potential for playing time in their decision making for the spring. Hopefully Kakuta will be comfortable in France and just allow his talent to show through in whatever role he plays. Best of luck Gael, we'll be watching and keeping tabs on your development.

I find it inconceivably tragic that Dijon are not sponsored by Grey Poupon

Also, FloMo’s (far less talented) brother plays for Dijon already…so the ‘Kalouta’ tradition may continue. Or I guess it would just be ‘Malouta’ in this case…

Kalouta works for me.

KAkUTA + maLOUda = Kalouta.

Why haven't we just made Dijon a linked team?

We could send them the less-talented brothers of all our players.

I forgot he's actually pretty good.

Hasn’t Romelu made claims that he’s the one to watch? I’d like to see us bring him over too.

LOL, that's too funny

But…Freddy? Really? Parents run out of French names after Didier & Joel?

One day

I hope to see a commentators nightmare of:
Kalou — Lukaku — Kakuta
All seriousness is that I hope this loan works for Gael, as he is talented just needs to get into showing it in bigger games with consistency.
