According to reports in Spain, Chelsea are on the verge of signing Oriol Romeu, a young defensive midfielder who made his debut for Barcelona last year, for 5 million euros. He is a big, physical prospect who can also play in the center of defense.
The disconcerting part of the story though is a claim that Barca are inserting a clause into the deal that gives them the option to buy him back in two years. Apparently they don't want to get into the habit of having to negotiate for the return of their academy players from London clubs after they make it big.
In the short-term, I think Romeu could play a part for us this year and has a ton of potential. The return clause puts a bit of a damper on this deal though.
