Michael Essien's nightmare is now a reality.

Official statement from the club:
Following injury to his right knee in training last week Michael Essien had surgery today to repair a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus.
The surgery was successful and Michael's full recovery could take up to six months.
Andre Villas-Boas said: 'Everyone at Chelsea wishes Michael well for his recovery. His team-mates and all the staff and I look forward to helping him return to playing as soon as possible.'
Damn. Just damn.
So, what is that, close to a total of a year and a half on the sidelines due to injury since September 2008. Essien missed around seven after doing his ACL for Ghana that September, then missed about seven last year after splicing his medial ligament during training for the African Cup of Nations. Unbelievable.
We at The CO wish the man the best in his recovery. If anyone can overcome such a blow, it's the Bison.
